I'm back in the game with a new HW95!!

Just wanted to drop in and say hello. I've been away from this hobby and this forum for a few years. I had a Crosman Nitro Venom (0.22) some years back which turned out to be such a disappointment. That experience turned me off of air guns and break barrels pretty hard for awhile.
However, I still have varmints that like to dig up things in my yard, so I started to look at PCPs, but they are just too pricey for my needs. I then took a hard look at the AA TX200 and HW77/97 figuring I'd go to a higher price and quality point with an underlever springer than the break-barrel Crosman that was in my closet collecting dust for 6 years. The weight factor of those underlevers sort of turned me off though. I then looked hard at the HW95 and after spending weeks on YouTube and reading forums, I became convinced that a "good" break barrel could actually be accurate so I ordered one in 0.177 cal. It arrived last Friday.
It's too cold here in Wisconsin to do too much shooting this time of year, but when my dear wife runs errands, the kitchen table works very well as a shooting bench so I shoot out the patio door at a target 18 yds out. My Crosman would not group to anything tighter than about 3" at that range (maybe 2" on a really good day). So with the new HW95, after about 200 pellets with open sights, I mounted the scope and zeroed it. Then, just like that, I put 5 pellets into a ragged hole - roughly 1/4" ctc. I attached a photo showing the big hole center target. The pellet holes to the right are from the zeroing exercise. I have never done that with an air rifle in my life! It was so easy too and I'm not that good!
This has me excited for how much better I might get with practice!
I don't intend to do any work on the internals until I feel the need. The minor twang/buzz does not both me at all.
I am loving the consistency!!

Great gun! Congratulations. My first quality air rifle was a base model Hw95. It's probably the most accurate air rifle I own. I love the gun so much I upgraded it to the stock yours came with. Cost me like 260 dollars so you made a good choice. Mine is in 177 too. Be careful these things are addicting. I've since bought 6 more Weihrauchs. If it starts shooting wonky check the stock screws. They loosen over time between the vibration and the compression of the wood. ENJOY!

Great shooting from a very fine rifle. My groups are improving with my HW95L .22 using H&N FTT 14.66 gr pellets.
25 yards & 7 shots. My rifle stock has identical check pads for L/R.

Welcome back!
The HW95L is a great gun to get back into air guns with. Terrific shooting for that ragged hole. That makes practicing fun indeed!

Congrats on your new rifle. The old lament of "if I'd known then, what I know now" comes to mind about your frustrations with the Nitro Venom.... I have two NP rifles and have done the brass pivot washer upgrade and the Tuna trigger upgrade on each to make them decent shooters.
But since finding the out of the box quality of HW30 and BeemanR7 rifles I got for my grandsons, I wish I'd gone with a HW95 or BeemanR9 years ago.

Yes, welcome back, Tony, from a neighboring cheesehead. Yeah, it does get cold up here in the north woods of Wisconsin, but I beat that problem by doing a lot of indoor shooting over our long winters. I do get out and shoot in the snow, though, when temps get into double digits. Any colder than that and pellets get too hard to load.
You made a great choice with the 95. Good for you. Great all around, do it all springer. Ours is in 20 (pellets are easier to load in the winter.

Congrats on the new 95. Have one in .22 and it's R9 cousin in .20. Sweet rifles
I'm also that one guy that still loves his inexpensive guns too, the challenges they present and very much enjoy them too even with 5 Germans in the house. Things get boring when it's too easy...lol.

After throwing money at a couple of cheap rifles I bit the pellet and threw money at an R9.
It took a while to break in properly, but when it did it became the easiest and most accurate shooter.
Like tjk I recently hit the FWB Sport button, a different bag 'o parts entirely, and testing my patience at the moment!
Congratulations on a great gun. You're gonna love it.
