0351Vet: it's your call.. if you are a mettalurgist, then go for it. I make aircraft and missile parts for a living (ok, not on machines anymore but, engineering)

I spec out and deal with hi-spec alum alloys all day long. 2024, 6061, 7050 and all types of tempers. What you might be missing here is; the cyclic forces experienced by an "old" alum tank. There is a reason that the term hydro is actually hydro-static testing. It's static and is not cyclic or dynamic. A hydro-static test only proves one thing, the alum tank did not blow up or the threads did not fail during the one, static test. Alumium grain structures are not like steel, there is very little carbon to manipulate and re-align as there is in steel products. Aluminum also does not exhibit early failure indications like steel so visual inspections or eddy current are just indirect measurements.

Now you have about 30 years of info to help you make a decision.

Update....I got the 2 tanks ($60) for the pair. Now I need advise on the Yoke. If I go with the cascade, I will have to use them tied together ALL THE TIME correct? Also looking at a single tether for regulated bench shooting on a constant psi.....Or am I missing something?

Where are you planning on getting a regulator set for the kind of pressures you need?.... I haven't seen an inline regulator that operates at more than 850 psi (ie CO2 pressures).... 

In my first post in this thread I showed you how to set up a cascade using two "fill station yokes".... What else do you need to know?....

Norm....That looks it would work great if tethered for range shooting. Cool.

You would need to check with the company to make sure of the max output pressue and install a burst disc or some sort of safety feature or valve to make sure you did not over pressurize your air reservoir if something failed in the regulator. These are very high pressures and very dangerous if not done correctly, dangerous enough to kill.
I know all PCP AG people are aware of this, I HOPE but all it takes is a split second of distraction for a serious accident to happen. Be SAFE and have fun.

That's a good price on a HP regulator.... I don't know what the output pressure range is, but I would guess it would cover 3000 psi as that is the intent of such a fill station.... It may very well be adjustable from 0-5000.... If that is the case, then the burst disc will be at least 5K if not more (assuming it has a downstream disc)....

If you were using this to tether a gun, you should make sure that the output is protected with a 3K burst disc.... Since the discs have a 10% tolerance that means the highest tether pressure would be 2600-2700 psi or you could blow the disc.... That would still work fine with virtually any PCP except those designed to be filled to over 3000 psi.... as the highest velocity is nearly always achieved at a lower pressure than the fill pressure.... As an example, when I tether a Disco (or 22XX HPA), I do it at 1500-1600 psi (using a 1.8K disc)....
