Got the pump from Amazon yesterday, assembled it today after work, filled my Liberty to 2000 then stopped. Seems to work but must pump very slowly as it seems to have a stiff vacuum on the upstroke. If pulled up very fast it wants to rebound back toward the bottom of the stroke but only a couple of inches. Doesn't seem to have issues on the downstroke. Did notice in the Chinglish manual that it is filled with coolant but needs to have silicone oil added to the plunger. After many years of easy air from my tank and compressor, I'm glad this is only for emergencies, had almost forgotten what a PITA it is to hand pump.
Quick question for those that have them; some of these Chinese pumps, like mine according to the manual, have water in them to keep them cool. Anybody have problems with this getting into the gun? Also, when it comes time to rebuild a “water cooled” pump, do you put water back in, or just run it dry?
This is a case where the "pay once, cry once" justification for buying a luxury priced item would steer you wrong. Something to think about with airguns too... or is that totally different?
The water, or mystery liquid, is between the walls and does not afford opportunity to get into the air stream. I dumped it upon a complete tear down and reassembly when I got it to inspect it; put antifreeze back into it. Antifreeze? Never would have thought of that. Obviously it works! Do you think the pump would function properly if it was just left dry after a rebuild?
