I agree. I took care of mine and only used it inside and it still rusted. I'll never buy another one.

 I just bought an Air Venturi Mk5 and it takes less effort than any pump I've ever used.

I bought this China pump about 2.5 years ago



The pump is still spotless  ( and I pump a lot ) if it goes down a new pump would cost just about as much as a HILL re-Build kit so I will not even consider a HILL anymore, not even close.

I have 3 more China pumps that have been sitting in their boxes patiently waiting if they ever will be called up for duty


The China pump today is the best deal in PCP air supply, period.

I have that pump and it worked great for awhile, but it has developed a suction on the up stroke that makes it impossible to use after 5 or 6 strokes. I took it apart, but I haven't been able to figure out what's causing the problem.

Of the three pumps I have now, only one has a desiccant canister on it.  The two that don't have the canister are not showing any unusual amount of rust.  I think the habit of pumping the rifle in the dry area of the house is helping.

I must confess, yesterday I received a GX-E-CS3 compressor from Amazon. Used it and thus far impressed. I have a inline filter coming today. My Origin and DAR have not been hard with the China hand pump but I have serious concerns about water build up in the onboard tanks and the GX has a built in separator . If nothing else every once in a while I’ll degas and refill, refilling from zero will be much easier with the compressor. De gassed my Origin and got only a minor amount of water vapor.

The HILLs came with it but to be honest I don't think it makes a difference,

I recently bough one of them 15 bucks water/oil separators that you ad to the line and I think one of those makes much more of a difference then the intake dessicators.

AC & DC operation on the GX CS3 (not the xisico) plus auto fill shutoff, briefcase style would be awesome!

Had a Hill MK3 for about 10 years. Have had zero issues it. Still has the original seals. About every six months i put drying balls in the oven for a couple minutes. Keep it lubed with hill silicone grease.  I have not experienced any rust or pitting and I live in a high humidity area during the summer. I keep it stored in a closet away from direct sunlight

(The trunk of the car or in the back seat of the truck is NOT a good thing.)

Have you replaced the o-ring(s) on the inner piston? That's what's always been wrong with mine when it started doing that.

Thanks for the Amazon link, just ordered one as a backup to my compressor should it break or be without power.

I am temped to buy a 3rd hand pump for $26.79 less 10% = $24.11.
Add some pellets or bbs or oil to get the total over $25 to get free shipping.
If you need a hand pump, you should buy one of these quickly.
I have 2 of these and they work good. 
I paid $70 for the first one, then the price dropped to $40 and I bought a 2nd one.

I've used a few. Had a Hill MK3, good pump, had an FX 4 stage, good pump. Now I'm using an FX not the 4 stage, just the plain vanilla FX and I can't say a bad thing about it. It is as good as it gets. I have two rifles I pump to ~220BAR and it's not big deal at all. If I was buying a new hand pump, I'm pretty sure it would be the standard FX. There's really no free ride. Pumps that are easier to pump, take more strokes, and vice versa. So, if you're able to pump without being out of breath, then i like to get 'er done. When I used the 4 stage FX, I didn't really see that it made a huge difference, and it did seem to take several more pumps. One thing I have noticed, the Hill got hotter/warmer when pumping several strokes at one time, whereas the FX seems to go for 15 minutes and still only be just warm, and doesn't seem to bother it a bit. I've pumped up two guns in one setting, and no problem at all. I do try to pump at a slower pace, but it's hard to do, and I usually go at it at a fair pace, with no ill effects. If I could find a shop that could go to 4500psi, I'd buy a tank.
The real shame is I used to work at a plastics manufacturing site, and we had two giant air filling stations for fire cylinders, so I could run over and fill all the cylinders I wanted on my own. I even had access to used bottles that were either very lightly used and over date or still had a year or so on them and I could just switch them out whenever they recycled bottles. It was a gold mine to me, but I retired and it closed, so no more, and I seriously doubt the fire stations would let anyone fill bottles with all the liability issues.

Got the pump from Amazon yesterday, assembled it today after work, filled my Liberty to 2000 then stopped. Seems to work but must pump very slowly as it seems to have a stiff vacuum on the upstroke. If pulled up very fast it wants to rebound back toward the bottom of the stroke but only a couple of inches. Doesn't seem to have issues on the downstroke. Did notice in the Chinglish manual that it is filled with coolant but needs to have silicone oil added to the plunger. After many years of easy air from my tank and compressor, I'm glad this is only for emergencies, had almost forgotten what a PITA it is to hand pump.
