Barra 1866 Can it Be Improved?

Every time I pump this gun I am afraid I'm gonna break that skimpy pump arm off.
Again. it looks great hanging on the wall..... way better than a picture of most mother in laws.
It's a shiny new toy on steroids.

At least the pump arm is some type of metal, the stock and receiver is pretty fragile, and you have to avoid thrashing on it. The concept is great, I would be in on another one with sturdier materials, it makes a great plinker.

About 300 shots through it, holding up good, and accuracy has gotten even better. Only thing I did so far was remove the stock and add a drop of super glue( cyano) to the screws that hold the stock on, keeps them from backing out and needing to be re-tightened ( they are self-tappers in plastic). This thing has some pretty long legs, I've hit stuff pretty hard out to 50 yards on 10 pumps. Indoors on 3 pumps it's good at 10 yards and really quiet.

Mine is decently accurate,  but the stock angle just does not work for me one bit and the safety on mine doesn't like to stay in the fire position very well.

Now that you mention it that stock ergonomics is kinda funny, everything else on mine functions great. I could stand to have it about 3/4" shorter. Wood stock/forearms would be really nice for this gun, someone will eventually probably do some.

Maybe they can also make some Zamak receiver castings while they're at it,I just couldn't justify putting wood on a cheap feeling plastic receiver.

Metal receiver halves might be a stretch, I'm sure they could 3D print some out of a stronger polymer, probably not the brass plated version. Better yet someone ought to make a metal wood version similar to the Red Ryder.

My Barre 1866 accuracy was terrible. I'm old with shaky hands but I know I'm a better shot than what I was doing shooting this thing. So I started checking things a found the barrel had a curve to it. I could see it by looking down the muzzle. I tore it apart and with the barrel in the shroud it almost touched the bottom of the shroud. With the plastic end cap in the barrel needed to come up about 3/8" to be in the center. I didn't think the shroud had enough give to get it in line with the barrel but it did and now my 1866 is very accurate for a old man with open sights. Now to try my idea to put a scope on it.

 Anyone still having fun with their Barra 1866? I've been reading on them and watched a couple videos. Seem to be a fun pump gun.
Pretty as a Wallflower, wonder what power this has I've seen one say 670 FPS with 7.9gr.

 I may get the tinker itch this winter and take mine apart, and see if I can swap in a .22 1866 CO2 barrel in mine along with any other mods, I assume the internals are the same as the Black Ops Jr. There is a good thread on them from Geo Shoonmaker sp. ? He is now the head guy at Barra and is the brainchild  for the newer releases.

 If I had one I'm sure I would take it apart after a few days to see what I can improve or modify. I'm sure I'd be able to add a little bit power..
 I'm not sure a .22 1866 CO2 barrel would fit as the CO2 models use a pellet holder / faux cartridge to load and fire the pellets. The CO2 .22 1866 seems very fun, abit spendy for 500 FPS and C02 reliant but still seems fun, might be abit annoying to have to use the pellet holder cartridges.

I haven't touched mine since sometime last year. I looked at my old notes and fps was in the 670's. I might get it out when the weather gets cooler
