If you are considering adopting a prairie dog(s) after seeing this video, be aware that wild prairie dogs can carry sylvatic plague, tularemia and tetanus. The first two are most often transmitted by fleas and the last by prairie dog bites. All three are potentially fatal for humans. The only prairie dogs that one should handle or be around are those born and raised in captivity that have been assessed for disease potential.
