Our BOO, who had seen both borders and all three coasts with us, passed back in March. We rescued MONTE MONTANA when we were MTFWP Camp Hosts in '04. Our MONTE only gets outside in her carrier, either at home our while we're camping; but yes, she comes when she feels like it,

Hehe! I LOVE cats, and until this stage of life, have had at least one since I was a teenager. A couple of them were what I'd consider "responsive" as far as cats go, but for the most part, they did their own thing on their own terms and their own timetable. LOL

This is one of the neighborhood cats that comes around. She's the one I posted awhile back with her freshly killed rat that she brought to my patio. Here she was supervising my work on the engine a few days ago.

Found a white cat once with just a goatee of black fur covering her little pointy chin, came right up to us as I was walking my two dogs UN-leashed (!).

She lowered her head down as she stuck out one paw on the ground in front her, almost like she was bowing to us.

Based on her near-visible ribs and kinda beat up appearance I figured she was a housecat got out and was starving and lost for days, finally chancing it with this stranger walking up with two dogs (okay they were two fluffy white Bichons, okay?).

So we took her in and called her "Chinny". Vet could not detect a chip in her and we posted signs around the neighborhood with no luck, so it became that she lived with us. For about 6 mos., then during a second vet visit they somehow detected the chip. Called owner and she was overwrought with joy.

Best, most responsive cat ever (our family had several cats ever since I was kid)!

Our current cat has been with us for 17 years and was about a year old when we adopted her. Shes always been a house cat with dogs. She learned to act just like they do. Before she got to her golden years she met you at the door when you came home right in the middle of the 3 dogs. Everytime the dogs went out she would try to blend in and go out with them. She still likes to nap in one of the dog beds. She begs for treats every night before bedtime and she knows and responds to her name. She also like to sing opera at the top of her vocal range at 2 am until I call her name and she stops and goes to sleep.

Good story Charlie.

Mine acted like a dog too as he grew up playing rough with two dogs, one of which was over 200lbs and would run to me for help when the crazy cat got out of hand. That's right the 200lb raging dog that sent 6 people running and jumping into the bed of their truck to not get mauled by him is the same dog that ran to me to be rescued from the *(&^ cat many times. He could handle 6 men but not 1 cat! lol

I have had several cats that were very affectionate and one that flat out would not leave the house. I think that he was agoraphobic and presently have a
Shih Tzu who is more standoffish than most cats. Comes when he feels like coming and ignores me the rest of the time

This is the first part of my life since 1985, that I have not had at least ONE animal to take care of. Most were cats, and most could not have cared less about anyone's schedule or concerns but their own!
