I was under the impression Crosman PCP and pump guns were US made (or at least assembled???). I know their break barrels are not.Was I wrong there?
I just got the Prod with ebay chinese pump as my first pcp with no regrets. Easy to pump, compact, nice trigger, decent aftermarket parts available, and shoots dime to nickel size groups with H&N FTT 14.66 and JSB 14.35 @ 32 yards zero. I was looking at umarex origin and glad I didn't go that route as it requires you to pump 100 times!? As easy as Prod is to pump, I was quite winded after only 35-40 pumps haha.

And shooting it is probably still less work than a modded 1322 carbine?? Or no?

I understand where you're coming from but I actually like the idea of supporting this industry and the people who make it happen, regardless of where those who are supporting me and whose efforts are making my lifestyle possible happen to have been born.So if you can get over your issues with China the Artemis PP 700 is a great little gun for well within your budget and shoots like something much more expensive. You could get it and a pump for $300. You can buy all kinds of parts - different barrels, regulator, etc. great little gun can shoot lots of low power shots and be pushed up to 15 fpe or so. My airforce guns are American made (I guess) but German barrel and the bottle must be from China. So assembled in America I guess.

I've got a lot of airguns... and I keep coming back to Crosman brands (Benjamin)...My favorite airgun is the Fortitude. My Marauder rifle used to be my favorite, it now just sits since I got the Fortitude.I like the Fortitude because of the following:1. I get 120-130 shots on one fill so less trips to the compressor (or hand pump).2. The shots are predictable and accurate. More accurate than my MROD.3. It is insanely quiet -- no LDC required. Very backyard and hunting friendly. 4. It's regulated from the factory, so no worries on losing/voiding your warranty.5. It's fit and form is much better than the MROD. 6. Shoots most pellets and most bullets/slugs very well.7. Well balanced and easy to shoot from a standing position.8. Shares some parts from the Discovery/Maxiumus and parts are easy to find (Have not had to do anything to mine since I got it!).I don't like:1. No rubber butt pad (but easily fixable).2. Trigger itself is plastic (although shooting it this winter, it was better than shooting my guns with metal triggers, so it's kind of a wash).3. Trigger pull is hard, but some like that. I've had worse. All in all, I highly recommend the Fortitude. Folks are starting to make aftermarket mods for them as well. I'm going to wait for mine to go out of warranty before touching it. Especially since Crosman isn't too far down the road for me.
Forgot to add, the 120 rounds is at full 3000 psi down to 1000 psi.

I wonder if there is much difference in shot count between the two calibers?go with .22, if you lower the power you will get more shots from .22 at 10FPE, I personally like the P-rod, I just bought one and it is Accurate with crosman Hollow points and domes, and if you lower the power to 10 FPE you can get more than 60+ shots from it, I don't know how the Fortitude is, but the trigger on the P-rod is very nice, adjustable, and all the hop up stuff available, they're both from crosman so your money your decision....That's what I have been thinking on, and leaning towards. I have learned the value of a good trigger. But - how do you lower the power of the P-Rod?
