. We have two HW 30s. One is a deluxe that wears a Williams peep for days when I'm in the mood to shoot irons and the other is the grey lam which wears a scope.
I just got a Beeman R7 in .177 from a guy in CA. I replaced the Bushnell Banner scope with a Hawke Airmax 3-9x40. I bought it thinking my wife and son’s girlfriend would enjoy shooting it. It’s small and light and doesn’t fit me as well as my HW95. But after getting the scope dialed at 25 yards on Sunday, I want an HW30 as well. It’s just a pleasure to shoot.
Since you're loving and thinking again, lemme stick a bug in your ear, Mr. never owned/shot a .20...lol. Consider an HW30s in .20 caliber regardless of what the detractors of the caliber will likely have to say.Yes, I own one although mine is an R7 Huntington Beach. If you missed it, the story on how I got that rifle is here: https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=174558.0Good read on your travels to get to this point and owning my R7 .20 has had me considering on and off getting one in .177 to go with it.
I have many many spring guns in various power levels including most of the HWs. My peep sighted HW30 is great, but gets overshadowed by my R8. Along came a late model 30 in 22, so why not try something new.Only mid 400 FPS, but that is into 6 pump territory with a vintage crosman 1400. I tuned for smoothness and put a Leupold 2-7 compact re-parallaxed for 15 yards on it and gave it a go. Oh what fun! Those 22 pellets smacking a soda can produces way more action than the 177. Just a lot of plinking fun.
