No ones going anywhere . Im open to ALL ideas and also absorbing the input as well. I think there is a way to get the participation higher and also believe there are many who simply come here for their own reasons who just dont like voting etc. no big deal. The one thing I DO know is the forum is growing fast and the numbers prove that and we are seeing a lot of active new faces all of which is trackable by us. So what does this mean? It means im not doing a good enough job promoting the HOF and that needs to change.All the blame is on me period. Ill figure it out but please any advise is very much welcomed. Has the leadership considered sending out ballots to those on the forum who meet certain criteria of posts, as well as utilizing a general area calling any interested to cast votes?

My thoughts are those under consideration should have a brief bio explaining who they are and how they engage with the forum. I voted but only knew 2 of the nominees. I mostly hang out on the Springer forums as not really interested in pcp, etc, so I miss out on the engagement from those nominees on other forum pages. They maybe fantastic and most deserving but I don't know that. Maybe the selections should be by forum area where nominees engage most often..

suggestions like this are good and in the direction we are going to help evaluate the candidates, maybe also to help increase voting numbers a small raffle included for a few bucks you cast your vote and win a chance at some gear, just cant be gear from a candidate

i did have to go back to ensure i voted i missed that part initially so maybe just some flashing at that point, or if you can get a pellet burst to appear then disapear again where we vote type graphic

Airgun of the year....can get behind that idea....even though it can be long term wrong (Quick...who was Time's "man of the year" in 1938?)

For hall of fame....its really have to have a few years of staying power.

I try to participate here regularly and read the threads daily.

I noticed that vote but I couldn't relate at all. I don't really know how to pick somebody in a popularity contest like this to be honest, and don't really have any interest or desire to do so. Definitely keep it optional.

Sorta but I still agree. Hall of Fame honors should be reserved for people like the first ones put on that Wall: Gene, Bob, Dez, Motorhead, Rocker and the others. Between them all, years spent between building this forum, promoting the sport, encouraging in all the ways they did. Something that only gets done every 3 or 4 years? to recognize someone like the above for theeir years and years of contributions to air gunning.

Other half should be something like GTA Member of the Year. Your basic average members who've gone above and beyond over the course of the year with daily posts and help and everything else they do around here daily to help and encourage fellow members.

Probably not making sense or saying it quite right, but there it is.

I will second Lizzie for a nomination. While not always air gun related, she chimes in often, makes lengthy post and does quick follow up responses. I also feel I have a good feel for her personality and could pretty honestly say that I feel I know her better than anyone here. Her kindness and willingness to help come through very clear in her post.

One other thing to consider is: if a moderator/admin is nominated, most members don't know how much they do behind the scenes to help the forum.

I support the idea of GTA Person of the Year based on member/staff nominations and votes following at least a brief posting of the reasons for the individual nominations. I support the idea of an occasional Hall Of Fame based on member/staff nominations (with perhaps a bit more emphasis on staff nominations because of the likelihood of longer-term knowledge of the nominee's contributions) and votes following a detailed posting of the reasons for the individual nominations. Those who wish to vote in each case can/will choose to do so. Those who do not choose to vote have no obligation to do so and no leg to stand on if they don't agree with the results of the vote. If few votes are collected in each case, so be it; whoever gets the majority of the votes is honored for whichever award is involved. In any case, rational votes cannot be obtained without information about the candidates being easily available, thus there should be a call for nominations in one thread, a listing of candidate information in another thread and voting solicited in a third thread. Anything else unnecessarily confuses several issues to the detriment of the whole process.

My concerns echo most of the previous comments. All I saw when I went to vote were four names. Didn't even recognize two of them. No criteria as to why I should pick one or the other for the two I did recognize. If you want more participation, you really need to provide more information than just names.

If you force a vote you will essentially end up with a random name of one of the nominees being drawn from a hat. Might as well do that yourself.
