Weihrauch HW-50 in .22 (gift from fwbsport)

Basically my experience with the Crosman Premier domed. Can vary quite a bit, one tin to the next. I have better luck going brown box, but sometimes not easy to find. I do have some Benjamin/Crosman pumps that actually prefer them, but my HWs tend to prefer the higher grade stuff.

For sure, this pandemic has had me shooting some pellets I've grabbed over the years, just because they were there and I got them cheap. Tins with labels like Gamo, Stoeger and so on. Still fun for plinking and shooting steel.

I had, (and still have), a headache yesterday along with cold symptoms so I only shot these two paper targets yesterday. I haven't shot at long distances yet Yogi I'm happy shooting at 25 yds. I'm building my confidence and trying to consistently shoot 1/2" groups at 25 yards before moving out to farther distances.

I was curious as to how the HW50 would respond to cheap Walmart pellets so these groups are definitely not the best. The target backing is completely shot out. I need to replace it so pardon for the closed holes on these shots.

(The Crosman pellets produced a lot of flyers but not surprising due to the variations in skirt diameter and weight. These pellets were not sorted straight out of the tin.)

That’s still pretty darn good shooting. I have sorted a couple tins of 7.9 CPHP and there was a lot of size variation with the biggest majority being 4.50. I go back and forth between the 50 and the 95 for my next gun so I will be interested in reading your comparison of the two.
Since you have been sheltering in place I’m guessing/hoping it’s not COVID-19.

Thanks. I don't have a lot of confidence in the Crosman pellets, this was more than likely the last time I'll shoot them in my HW50.  I'm positive this quality rifle will yield its best performance with a higher quality pellet.

Everyone is probably getting tired of me posting my progress with the HW50 but I promised I would keep John (fwbsport) updated and since I can't figure out how to attach pictures to a PM I'll keep posting them here.

Yesterday I tried Crosman Premier Domed Ultra Magnum and Benjamin Discovery HP'S,  I had some tight groups but had some flyers,  sometimes 4 out of 10 were flyers.    I apologized to Tiger Stripe (the nickname John had for this rifle because of the wood grain on the stock) and promised that I wouldn't poke anymore of those inferior pellet down her throat again.

Here are the results for today.  Only pellets I used today was H&N Vortex Supreme 14.66 and only at 25 yds.

The top three targets are 10-shot groups
The very bottom target is my best ever 5-shot group at 25 yards of any air rifle I own.

If you're wondering why some groups are to the right and some to the left is because I've been tweaking my zero and the Airmax and I can't seem to reach an agreement.

That’s some fine shooting, Dan! At 14.66 gr. and 5.53 mm those Hatsan’s sure sound a lot like H&N FTT. Do you know if they’re the same but relabeled?

Thanks. I was on a roll today.  I've been told they are the same but for some reason the HW50 is shooting tighter groups with them than with the FTT.

Hatsan pellets are not cheap. $$

In my experience, the Weihrauchs are not as pellet picky as my other brands--but they do have some that shoot consistently better than others. The H&N med sniper 8.5gr is the only pellet that none of my Ws really like. Oh, and the cheaper economy Excites. OTOH, they shoot the cheaper Beemans just fine.  I still prefer H&N first, then JSB/AA pellets. The other aspect that I enjoy about my Ws is this, they will shoot virtually any grain consistently. I'm getting good results with 6.9, 7.0, 7.5 (Daisy WCs), 7.9, 8.0, 8.2, 8.3, 8.44, 8.64--consistently.

Thanks Archie,  I'm seeing that. They all shoot with pretty groups,  13.12gr, 14.66, 15.89. SteveP-52 is sending some AA Falcons for me to try.
