Hatsan SAS screws

Mine sheared off on my 135 .30
I emailed Hatsan and they said they don’t have any in stock and are waiting for their next shipment from the factory.
Anybody else had problems with the front SAS screws? If so what’d you do to remedy/fix the problem?

I’m thinking about getting some hardware from Home Depot or Ace and taking care of it myself, unless of course this is an unadvisable route lol

Yep, I’ve accidentally dry fired my 150 and snapped it right where the smaller threaded hole (for the tiny screw on opposite side of stock) stops. Did it TWICE 
For mine It’s a 7mm bolt, got one at Home Depot, cut it to length, cut some threads, rounded underside of the hex head a little to better fit the stock washer and works like a charm plus it’s stronger than the stock bolt since no tapped hole for the small stock screw on opposite side (not sure if this is the same setup on the 135.

Mike, it was the exact same setup, my local HD was out of longer 7mm’s so I made due with a shorter one. It’s not fully threaded, but halfway with loctite. Hopefully it’ll hold until I get a longer bolt. I think with the next Bolt I’ll use my dremel to cut a notch in the top for a flathead screw driver. I appreciate the tip, dude!

No problem. Glad it’ll get you shooting again!
If you stick with this rather than an OEM part from Hatsan and you get the longer bolt you may also want this from McMaster Carr (just female part), it’ll keep the hex head clear of stock for easier tightening (slot for screwdriver also would work as you suggested).
It’s for a 6mm bolt but due to being female half of self leveling  fitting it’ll fit a 7mm perfectly.

Well, both Lowe’s and HD were out of. 60mm M7’s so I had to make do with a 50mm M7 for now (the short 40mm came loose).
It’s holding so far, if I can find one, I’m gonna get a 60mm or a 70mm and use those washers and a locknut.

I've been wanting to swap out the SAS screws in my Hatsans that have them. I hate that sling swivel on the side. It snags on my shooting bag.
Nice thread. I never thought to ask if anyone else had swapped them out with standard hardware store nuts and bolts.

Ok, M7 bolts are not present in my local Lowe's or HD.  They've got 4mm,5,6,8,10,12. Everything except what I need. Typical. My inner cynic is fed again.

Does anyone think that drilling out the SAS components to 8mm would be doable? I can't see why not but I'll ask before doing.

Am I the only one who owns a Hatsan with that SAS hard plastic insert that's ever wondered how they actually expect that hard piece of plastic (Delrin??) to act as any kind of shock absorber???

Just my usual random lame thinking but seems like something rubber would do a better job absorbing shock during shooting......

Yea, I dunno how effective it is but it seems to be the same material that Gamo uses in their RRR rail for shock absorption. I know the Gamo design works a little because I mounted the scope right on the receiver and the shots would move the side wheel a little each shot but on the RRR rail on the same gun the side wheel stayed put.

Without coupling that piece of plastic with something in the back of the gun instead of the screw behind the trigger that holds the action down, I think its just a gimmick.
Its almost as if you had shock absorbers for the front wheels of your car but not the back wheels. How good could that possibly be?

Yea, I hear ya but that nut in the receiver end cap probably has a little play in it which increases by the time it extends through the threaded coupling and is secured by the screw behind the trigger. Still not sure how effective it is but my guess is there’s a tiny bit of give in the system when considering the shock running through the gun during each shot cycle.
