Haha! I thought you were going to say you got another rifle on the way before Christmas! I got my Christmas rifle the first week of November. I’m doing my best to be good. Whatever that mans.
Well I think I am right now The wife scored high marks this year for Christmas so I was lucky enough to get one of the RWS 34 ProCompact airguns from umarex. It came in like 2 days and I told her when it got here that I really needed to open it and make sure it wasn't damaged.I said it would be horrible to open it Christmas morning and have it be where I couldn't shoot it and had to send it back so she agreed it was a good idea.Well that was Sunday afternoon and I did open it and clean the barrel and shot about 10 JSB's through it and all was well.So here is where the "BAD" comes in.I came by the house the next day (Monday) on my lunch hour and opened up the box again and included scope and mount. I had it all mounted in less than 30 minutes so I had 30 minutes to shoot it.After about 4 shots at 20 yards I had it dialed in. I ended up shooting it about 40 times or so. I quickly removed the scope and mount, put it all back in the box and taped it back up good. Then put it back in the bedroom where she had it stored. To say I was excited after using that T06 trigger is an understatement cause this is my first what I call high end springer. When all you've had is Crosmans from wally world and such this is quite a step up.It gets worse guys. The wife and our youngest daughter work at the same place and Thursday afternoon their boss (a lady) took the whole office (all women) to a spa for the night. So I was all alone with a certain new airgun. Yep, you guessed it. I caved in again! This time I ran to the garage and grabbed my spring compressor, moly lube, sandpaper, and allen wrenches and came running in the house straight to the bathroom to get a bath towel to put down on the bar so I didn't scratch my new airgun. To make a long story short, I removed the stock, took out the spring and polished the ends to a mirror finish. Added some moly to the spring cause it came from the factory pretty void of grease. Lubed the trigger in a few spots. Used CA glue to harden the stocks front mounting holes. Removed the breech pivot bolt, degreased it, and put a tiny bit of loctite on it when reinstalling. Only this time I adjusted it some so the cocking was a whole bunch smoother. I also put a tiny bit of loctite on the stock screws when I remounted the action in it.After this I took it out back and shot it about 10 or 12 times. Boy was it an improvement, I'll say it was!I had about 10 minutes left to repackage it all back into the box and tape it shut before my middle daughter got home from work.I feel bad, but not as bad as I would have thought. So am I a bad person?ThanksRay
Ray, you're not a BAD PERSON.I just can't believe that you got that tune-up all done as described in the time that they were at a Spa for the evening!I thought maybe you were going to say that you totally F'ed it all up in the process and that you had to replace something or other, but hey, you pulled it off, and as long as your wife doesn't read this thread, I think you're safe.Guilt is one of those things that one carries until they free themselves of it by some manner. I'd wait. You've done nothing wrong to the rifle. No one has been harmed in the process, and, on Christmas morning, when you open it up and shoot it, you can tell your wife what a wonderful gift it is.I checked with Santa. He says you're ok.

I am sure one of my sons would said something when I opened it.No, we are not criminals, more like ten year olds.
