Bill same here with claiming the yard back. Wacked weeds n trimmed bushes then mowed beating the rain. No more sumac that I can see so glad that's over with finally. Now to tackle the poison ivy. I have 30% vinegar ready for that.
Garage door spring broke so got the springs replaced and all rails n hinges lubed. Nice to park in the garage instead of on the back patio.

Good Morning! I slept as good as I ever do last night. I woke up at about 6:30.
My plan for today so far is finish this cup of coffee.
I am still on "standby" for Jury Duty. What that means is I can do whatever I want or need to do today, I just have to check in after 5:30 PM to find out if they want me to come in tomorrow. It is very unlikely to have to go in for a first day on a Friday from what I know, but it is possible. Being on standby for four days is a first for me, I have always had to go in on day one or two in the past.
I may mow and I may work on the trailer project.
I feel like taking a day off though, but mowing or working on the trailer would be a good idea because it is not supposed to get too hot.

Good morning, already beating back the jungle. Finish the frontend loader bucket project today, the van repair is on hold due to weather. I need one day with no rain. I don't like working on wet metal. Something slipping and getting air borne is something I don't want to deal with right now. Later on plant some more veggies and pick berries. I have blueberries and blackberries coming in. The figs are not ready yet, a few more weeks. Will have a good crop of grapes, pears, and citrus.

Our yellow squash just finished. Squash borer worm. Tomatoes. potatoes, cucumbers, cabbages, black berries, blue berries, and cauliflower are all bearing. It's the peak of the yellow fly season too!

Got a new sturdy grate to replace the old bent one on the fire pit. I'll still use the old one on top of burning boxes in the woods to keep some embers down. Got online purchases completed and a load of laundry. Netted the pool clean of bugs from the bottom. Got the box of healthy meats delivered and put away in the freezers.

Mornin y’all. Already low nineties here this a.m. with 90% humidity. I’m sitting in the shade on the gun deck and it is just bearable. No contractors again for the third day in a row. I’ve got a list of things for them to fix that they did wrong the last time they were here. I guess I’m hard to work for but I’ve been building and renovating houses my whole life. I know exactly how it has to be done and I see no reason to accept anything less than exactly what I want.

Good morning! I slept pretty well last night and got up at 7:00 this morning.
I lucked out, my check in with Jury Duty last night said I have completed my service for this time.
Plans, I have 6
?
days left to get everything done around here that I need to do before we leave on our trip.
It is a fairly long list of "little things". The biggest thing is mowing (which I put off again yesterday).
I am going to keep busy until we leave "chasing the squirrel" while I try to get the more important things done.

Sam bummer! What did they do wrong? Watched a show last night where a couple went through 3 contractors that screwed them royally with $)((# work and unfinished work too. Had to be taken down and renovated by a 4th good crew. Bad electrical, rain leaking inside, the works. Contractors doing that mess to people deserve whatever he|| they get in life.
Got a ton done today and wore out.

They hung two pieces of siding and did a sorry job of it. Misaligned and a gap at the top. Made a window frame too small. Did a bad job of installing some flashing. It’s all easily fixable. It’s part of the process of breaking in a sub contractor. They test you to see how little they can get away with. You hold them to the stone until they meet your expectations or they go look for an easier guy to work for. I’m on my second contractor on this job which is about normal for me.

Mornin y’all. I was lying in bed with the memsahib this a.m. and I looked up and out the window and saw a half dozen squirrels tail chasing through the Live Oaks in the back yard. So I (bug) suited up and moved out to the gun deck. It’s hot and muggy already at 0900. I’ve got my tall glass of iced coke, my pipe, and my Hatsan Flash-R with scope cam mounted.
I’ve got the late shift at work today. Harold has the early shift. That’s reassuring since he doesn’t mind working his full shift and I won’t have to go in early to relieve him.

Got up at 9 with only 5 1/2 hours of sleep. A big live oak at the waters edge came down last night landing atop the boat trailer. With temps in the low 90°s and 96% humidity today, I spent the night cutting off the small branches. Today the chainsaw comes out and the real work begins.
