Another busy day!  Spent the morning moving brush, vehicles, trailers, and lawn furniture around to suit the subcontractors who didn’t come today.  Since they didn’t show we are going to town to get our new eye glasses!

I got most of the yard mowed in cloudy weather but then it started pouring and I didn't have time to make it to the shop without getting drenched so I parked the mower under the patio.

Somedays we get lucky like yesterday when the tree surgeon came.  Most of the jobs I need done are pretty small.  I live right off a main highway to the beach.   Lots of construction going on at the beach.  So these guys will stop by my place on their way back from a big job and make a few hundred bucks quick like the tree guys did.  I've been a sub myself so I know how to play this game.

Mornin y’all!  Gardening today.   A year some airgun shooting in the afternoon.  The new Hatsan Flash is scheduled for delivery late this afternoon so I’m looking forward to that.

I decided that I needed the next two days off work. 

Today I hope to start cleaning up my project mess in the shop and under the covered patio (carport).  I would like to get the outdoor furniture pulled out and cleaned up and hopefully get the backside if the house pressure washed and clean so we can enjoy being out there.  Those plans might be a bit ambitious for one day but I have tomorrow to work towards that end.  I just want to be able to relax and do some other things around here apart from the bath/laundry.  That’s pretty much completed except for some small stuff but now it’s time to do a final move in and start using it again.

What are the dimensions of your new roost?  I was thinking a cover over it would be nice for shelter on those wet days.  Don’t want the pipe fire to get drowned out ya know.  🔥💨

Brett... if you're anything like me you'll want to stick to the bathroom/laundry until all the small stuff is done. Those small things typically stay on my to do list until I get back around to it, if not permanently. Worse case is that I come home someday and Betty Lou says "look, i finished up that project" and it ain't nothing like what I had planned but I gotta live with it.

Brett.  It’s 8’X8’ but the funky pitch of the roof eave makes covering it challenging.  I’m thinking a canvas fly or Bimini kinda thing maybe with a mosquito veil.  Underneath we’re going to screen in as a vestibule for the “front” door.

I was thinking that same sort of thing like you describe.

I put up some sunshades in the summer months for our little space.  Those are inexpensive but they don’t keep the rain off unless it’s a sprinkle.  I’m excited to see what you come up with.

I’ve already ran into a slow down for the day.  We decide to take Heather out for coffee.  Seems like everyone else in the valley has the same idea.  It’s going to be a long wait…

I did get a fire going to burn clean scrap wood and I got a couple bags of smoker pellets in buckets for use/storage. 

I may grill something for dinner tonight.  I’m thinking steaks would be nice.

I got up at 6:30 again today. I unloaded both of my trucks with some things we brought home from our place in town. My wife decided today I need to get the old chairs that go with the table we brought home already. I also have the a bunch of garden tools to bring here too. And some 5 gallon buckets of sand and gravel, those will be fun to load up. 

 There is a 50% chance of rain tomorrow so we need to get the rest of stuff for donation, donated or moved where it will not get wet if the wind blows towards the patio where we were temporarily putting some things.

Dan how you holding up? That's a lot of hard work you've been doing. I need to get some dirt to fill in a lot of gopher holes in my mother's yards too that washed out in the flooding. Probably 3yds of dirt at least. The joys of sloping land. Should've done that when I had my dump trailer before selling it. Oh well that's a problem for another day.

Jeez... what a fiasco that was...
Betty Lou wanted to go to the store and pick up a few thing then stop at Subway with a 2 for $12 coupon. Got to the store checkout and there was some sort of glitch that declined and locked my card. I don't carry cash so we had to leave $75 worth of stuff in a cart and go to the bank.
I was in the bank manager's office when my cell rang. An automated deal from the bank saying there was an issue with my card and wanted to verify the last 3 transactions. The first 2 had to do with the store declining my card and the 3rd was from a store purchase yesterday. I went through the process and it said my card was now cleared. The bank manager confirmed my card was reactivated. As I turned to leave my phone rang again. It was the same automated deal again. The BM told me to just hang up. He checked the card again and we were good to go.
Got back to the store and their register was messed up and they ended up resetting it, canceling our items and rescanning them.

It was a pita but at the end of the day I am grateful that the security measures on my card and at the store are in place and quite effective.
