I was informed that the celebration of life for Killer will be held right here in the barn on Monday. I sure won't have far to crawl home.

Yeah  I saw that on his obituary.  I started to post a link but I wasn't sure you would want that because it has your address.

Just read his obit. Yep I knew my uncle would've liked him. A lot of his obit sounds like him too. Never met Killer but I like him.

Yeah Bill I got a damper.  I never did make it to the hardware store for the other stuff though.  The power flickered all day as line crews sorted out the various outages from the storm and the internet was intermittent.  Without internet the memsahib became bored and suggested that we engage in some of those traditional activities that people resort to when the power goes out.

So I got preoccupied and never made it to town.

Well, the storm messed up my plans for today.. FedEx has delayed delivery on the stove pipe until tomorrow. It's 18f out right now and unless there is a serious warm up today I won't be hanging out in the shop. I could probably temporarily pop the chimney pipe back on and burn the stove but I don't think I want to do that... we'll see how bad the cabin fever gets... we don't even own a checker board.

Ok so the thought of sitting in this recliner all day surfing the web or watching tv has already encouraged me to go out and pop that chimney pipe back on and put a fire in the wood stove. I also didn't think about the casting shack.. firing up the pot and mold oven warms that 8x10 building up pretty good... so there is that too.
Time to motivate.

Mornin y’all!  It’s colder than my sister-in-law’s heart out there this morning!  Belle however, is a two year old Labrador retriever.  So suiting up and going for a walk!  If it warms up enough today I’ll work on the dock.  If it doesn’t I’ll work on the 760.

Popped the stove pipe back on but left the top hat off... for now. Busted up some twigs and used junk mail to start it. Once it was going I used the hatchet to break down a couple of my split log sections and built it up to where I could add a couple quarter log splits.
It was drawing the air in like a wind tunnel.. sounded like a turbine engine roaring and the heat just poured out the front. Not even a whisp of smoke in the shop. I stepped out to see what was coming out of the chimney.. nothing but the haze of heat.. nice clean burning.

Good morning from southern Missouri, we arrived right before dark yesterday at 5:18 PM Central time. We got the heater going in our camping trailer that we left here. It has developed a few issues that I will need to take care of ASAP. but the heater worked and we made the best of camping next to my son's house. If "Camping" means sleeping in the camping trailer.

 I think my son and daughter in law are working today, I know the daughter in law left for work. I haven't checked to see if my son is working today though.

 As far as plans I have grandkids and great grandkids in the area so I am sure some visiting with them will happen. I also know my wife wants to go to Bass Pro in Springfield too, who am I to say no to that request, LOL.

Good morning, the mercury hit 25° this morning. Waiting on the rest of this mess to melt. Will probably have to pull the rest of the navels off the tree and juice them. I had a frozen one for breakfast this morning. The only broke plumbing I have is the pipe under the fish cleaning sink. I for got to turn the water hose off that goes to it. It will be a few weeks after this cold snap to see what croaked from the freeze. Just taking it easy today.

Good Morning from an 8 degree morning in Southern Missouri.

 We are have a wedding rehearsal this afternoon and a dinner following.  I am sure there will be visiting with relatives and I have a little work to do on the camping trailer too. So it will be a busy day.

 The forecast high here today is 43 degrees.

You can see I leave a permanent ladder up to do cleanouts, seems I am keeping a nemesis warm too

 Come spring the starlings start building a nest ASAP even with a small fire going, I have to stay vigilant then. I have tried adding screen to the topper but it encourages creatote buildup IMO.

I woke and got up at 5:50 AM today. I had woke up at 3:30 but managed to get back to sleep for another 2 hours.

 I snuck from our trailer into my son's house and got a shower first before the rest woke up.

 Plans are to spend time with family all day with the grand daughter's wedding at 2:00 PM

Mornin y’all.  I woke up abut 0530 and let the dogs out.  Then I went back to bed.  Belle just woke me again a few minutes ago.  My friend Geoff is coming to visit today.  If it gets warm enough we might try to hike some.

 Thanks, it is almost 8:30 and no one except my wife and I are up yet. It is starting off warmer today at 37 degrees. A little while ago my wife and I both at the same time felt it was getting cold in our trailer, our first 30lb LP tank ran out, I went out and switched to the second tank and the heater got going again. 

 Wednesday, the day we got here the water jugs we had left inside the trailer were frozen from this cold snap. So, our heater has been working hard to keep us warm. Now I know 30lbs of LP lasts 2 and and a half days for us in these conditions.

 I plan on taking advantage of the heat wave today and take the Serpent shotgun along with me on a firewood run, saw bunny tracks where I was cutting last
 I still have to unload yesterdays' load, as I am getting ahead of my needs and will stock pile this in the small open space I have in the garage.

Hey Dan, We found that if you have access to 110 it's far cheaper to run an extension cord to a small electric space heater than to run on the camper's propane heater.  The same for hot water.  We installed an on demand hot water heater and it saved us a lot of money

 Thanks, we are plugged in but, the circuit we have access to is the same one as his garage fridge and freezer so adding the electric heater is a bit much for the circuit.

 I am sure you are right that it would be cheaper. We are not hooked to water currently because we are only here for a few days and it is easier to just go into the house for running water needs than to drain everything so it won't freeze when we leave.
