I grew up in the Tampa area and went through January 19, 1977 snow storm. Went to school like it was a normal day. Road the bus to school the driver was very careful get us there safely. Not much class that morning, everybody played in the snow. It dumped 3" where I lived. It was weird seeing snow on orange trees. The last winter precept here was in 2014. I sat at work watching people slide off the bridge. The sheriff's deputy finally showed and closed the bridge. I went home not long after that, things just kept getting worse.

Evenin y'all!  The boss just called and told me to stay home tomorrow.  State office closure.  I'm truly pleased.  Tomorrow is the yearly park inspection.  Class A's, fruit salad, and too much brass.  So I dodged a big one courtesy of the weather.

Morning...
Just what we need.. a deep freeze in the south to drive food prices up even more.
I woke up a couple times during the night and watched Ohio State beat the Irish for the National Championship... GO BUCKS !
Supposed to begin snowing here around 10:30 - 11:00. Predicted up to a couple inches. Wouldn't bother me to never see snow again in person. Had enough of that stuff during my life in the north.
We dripped the faucets last night and will continue to do so until temps get above freezing. I'm gonna make another Bubba cup of coffee and go get the shop stove fired up.
Oring kit coming in this morning for the Avenger. I hope it's not the poppet or the regulator.. this kit don't include them and PA is out of stock and no eta.

 Bitter cold day, no snow, not even much from past storms, IIR the storm of 77 we had snow banks almost touching the ground wire on the power poles, roads were blocked for days, and when passable it was a one lane tunnel in places. Why do I still live here it hasn't been that bad since LOL
 Might be a good day for me to rebuild my FX DRS

On your way home when you pass exit 139 on the I40 just west of Ash Fork AZ look north and wave as you go by.lol up in those hills is where I live.

I'm sitting at the VA waiting to see a NP that's going to check to see if any more skin cancer has shown up. It's going to be a once every 3 months.😕

Betty Lou wanted to make a store run and I decided to start the fire in the shop stove before we left. In my haste I forgot to open the damper on the chimney pipe. When I got back the whole shop was full of thick black smoke and I had to go in and open it up to air it out... there's a hard lesson learned.

Next time you need to use applewood or hickory  and hang some meat in the rafters.

Don't know what plans are... Been feeling cruddy lately and not bouncing back as usual. Come to find out I don't have a usual cold/flu, but that "other" thing. Dang, I thought that was practically all gone...

Well, guess I'll be setting around isolated for a bit going stir crazy 

The kiddos have no symptoms and luckily the Misses seems to be at the tail end of whatever she had over the long weekend

Hopefully just a few days and back to the usual. At least I've figured out why I haven't shaken this chill... Here I thought it was just the seasonal temps, Lol

Not near as much as I expected.. the fire was all but out when I got to it. Fortunately I did have the front door to the firebox closed and it was just getting air from the space under the door. It probably choked itself out.

Finally made it to 50° this afternoon.

Awe that's sweet.. we made it up to -2° today.. 50° sounds like shorts and tank-top weather!

Mornin y’all.  The great winter storm of 25’ didn’t happen here. 

It rained and the power flickered a couple of times.  Big whoop.

I intend to skip work today regardless.  There is no point in driving in just to sit around the shop all day and find make work.

I’m going back to bed.  I’ll check in again later when/if I gets motivated.

Morning..
Another 3am rising. Eyes just popped open and wouldn't shut again. Then the brain began to wander through all the thoughts of things I could do today.. that alone should have been enough to put me back to sleep. 
Then I got up and caught a look at the snow outside on the security cam.. that too should have sent me back to bed but it just made me want a hot cup of coffee.
Normally the night vision on the cameras gives us a view out to 20yds or so but with the snow on the ground it lights it up all the way out to the dirt road.. maybe 200 ft. Kinda cool.
I don't think Betty Lou has any designs on venturing out into the world today but I don't plan on leaving the farm. I'll get my shower here shortly then head out to fire up the shop stove... maybe I won't fill the shop with smoke today.
