I will be dropping my Serpent Shotgun off at a UPS drop off, for exchange for another, I put it off until the holiday shipping rush was over.

Hope that works out well for you, that's a hunk of change . Way out of my budget though.

Mornin y'all!  Plans for today are to walk the pups and work a little more on the boat dock.  Airgun related stuff includes playing with the AV/SA M1 carbine some (chronograph), setting up some bait stations for night time pesting, and more training with the NVD.  The electric space heater we use in our bathroom died this a.m. so I'll be heading to Wallyworld to find a new one at some point.

Sam same here just replaced one yesterday also but for the shop in my case. Prepping things for bad weather in case it lasts longer than the "forecasters predict" as has happened before and suspect it may happen again.

I have no confidence that we will have electricity back on tonight. I have been messing with my big generator all day to keep it running the right speed, it wants to wander up and down. 

 The gas in it was old and now it has "fresher" gas in it that I siphoned out of my GMC.

 Time to get my Buddy Heater ready for tonight.

Up at 4, made coffee and let Stinky Boss out. When she came back in she thought it was play time and tried to goad me into her antics with her knotted rope toy... silly dog. So, once I won that battle  I settled down with some random muscle car garage type show streaming on tv and the laptop to see if anything interesting was happening outside our little World..  nope, nothing new.
I can see on the security cams that daylight is trying to sneak in so I'll soon get dressed and go out to gather up a few things to finish hanging lights in the barn.
The step locks on the 24' ladder that I borrowed are real sticky and a pita to operate. I need to WD them and get them freed up. I'm sure Sheriff West will appreciate me returning the ladder better than it was when I got it. I fought it yesterday and I don't plan to fight it today. Also need to grab some zip ties to secure up some older wiring while I'm up there. Someone installed a 220v outlet and ran the wiring above from the box to the opposite wall and left some of the wiring drooping.
It's 25f out right now but expected to reach near 50f. I expect it to be much warmer in the barn once the sun hits and begins warming up the metal inside and out. I actually broke into a sweat yesterday and had to peel off layers.

Up early for being up late. Plans for to day go to Harbor Freight and get some provisions to move my big toolbox. I start my new job at the old place as a mechanic again on Monday. So my landlord is letting me borrow his inclosed trailer for the move. I suspect with the snow on the ground it is going to be a task to get it loaded up.

Plans include a workout on the Total Gym after work.  It will be ugly-cold in the shop since we don't have heat up there yet.

Otherwise, a basic workday for me. 

I really want to start working on my latest frankenmower project, so now that I've finished building my desk, I can bring two old semi-broken mowers inside and start disassembly.  This will be a new "design" for me, and the first time I build one with a blade PTO and gearing.  Donor mowers are a Statesman rider with a 18.5 hp engine chosen for engine and transmission, and a 33" Cub Cadet walkbehind with timed blades supplying the deck and controls.

I have to say that I am surprised you don't have a woodstove in that shop yet. You obviously have plenty of fuel. I suggest you look around the local scrap yards like I did.

I went out to the shop, cleaned the remains of yesterdays fire out of the stove and fired up today's burn. Then I gathered the things I needed at the barn. On the way back in the house for a cappuccino I noticed a widow maker hanging from one of the trees out front. It was about 4" diameter at the stem and forked out to be 20' or so. I was able to grab a front branch and pull it down. I heard it crack and that led me to run. Good idea because it landed in my footprints.
Nice, more fuel for the woodstove.

Good morning I was right the power did not come back on overnight.. with these public safety shut offs they have to send out somebody to inspect all the lines before they can turn the power on in an area. I got up at 5:45 and started the Buddy heater back up.
I had shut the Buddy heater off last night before going to sleep. It was 60 in the bedroom when I woke up.

Matt you a diesel mechanic working on heavy equip or on regular vehicles? I admire anyone with that ability. I can do a little of it and do most of my own repairs but I don't know enough to be hired full time nor could I do so physically.

Bill same happened to me recently. I have them hanging in several places still and many on the ground to pick up again already after the 40mph gusts the other day.
 
Peter good luck with the mower. I don't miss working on mine at all during the winter but if I have to thankfully I have a couple heaters running in the shop.

Dan glad you have the buddies keeping you warm. I have mine ready if needed also.
