Anyhoo!  I think I drove boats today.  Kinda fuzzy about that.  It's all a blur.  Tomorrow I'll be too busy to post in the morning so . . . . . .

Salutations to all you early risers!  I'll be driving river boat tours, cleaning restrooms, and holding down a chair at the ranger station.

It is another nippy morning here in Mid East Mn.
-3 F is the temp and -17 F is the  windchill.
I am expecting a high of 9 F or 10 F today.
My wife will get to wear her new winter coat to church today.
There is a gradual warming trend this week.
Thursday is forecasted to be 26 F to 30 F.

No real plan today.
Bout to get a shower and head out to the shop and get the woodstove fired up. Looks like temps will be in the low 40s for the rest of the week. Might be a good time to check guns and do whatever maintenance they may need.
Betty Lou's new microwave is out for delivery so I want to catch the driver and check for any damage before he leaves. Last week they delivered 2 damaged lights for the barn and Walmart refunded the money and gave us a $10 gift card. They told me to keep the lights and I was able to repair the damage. 7 more of those same lights to be delivered Wednesday and I wouldn't be surprised if there is more damage.

Good morning, I am waiting for the rain to clear out and go back to winterizing the plumbing, fruit trees, and zoo. Not starting on the van until this weather gets a little warmer. I have to get the water pump and radiator out and not to crazy about dealing wet things in this cold weather. Get some cooking done because that will heat the house up some, work on fishing rigs, and probably make my way to the cape when wind comes from the north. I have plenty of cold weather gear and the truck to stay warm.

Betty Lou and Boss walked the perimeter while I was in the shower. She was looking for any damage from the storm that came through overnight. She said all looks good. Wind is still blowing pretty good bringing in colder temps but at least the rain has stopped.

Was too cold with the wind chill yesterday to continue weed whacking and it doesn't look any better for today.

After work I'll be checking out the woods for hangers, dead-drops, and widow-makers.  The snow should have minimal bearing, but now things are freezing up and woods + dead limbs + ice can make for a risky scenario.  I have a loooooong extnsion for my Proyama pole saw.  Still be wearing a hardhat, though.

Sonja and I have been opening up some paths and clearing underbrush on some of the more outlying sections of our woods.  I hacked some thigh-sized poison ivy vines, and pull some wild grape vines over the weekend.  We be pulling everything into piles over the next few afternoons for our next woodchipper-rental session.

Went out to the shop to find one of the 6" x 10" panes of glass was broke out of the bottom row of the man door. The glass was on the floor inside in just 2 pieces... kinda strange because there was nothing around that could have hit the glass to break it. It is an old door and the glass may have just fallen out.
Anyways I had a 1/4" thick piece of plexiglass that perfectly covered all 3 lower panes. I managed to drill 3/16" holes in the 4 corners on the drill press without cracking the plexiglass and screwed it to the door.

Afternoon y'all.  I'm holed up in the penalty box today.  I opened up this a.m. so I hope to get out of here by 1500 today.  Later the memsahib and I have to move the fig tree and the avocado into the green house.  Hoping my latest order from Pa has arrived so I can shoot some BB guns this evening.

Good Morning. I drank too much coffee yesterday and was awake until almost 5:00 AM.
My wife woke me up at 7:30 to take Hank to the Vet. He has a front paw that has been bothering him. He has licked it until it looks pink and irritated. We gave it a couple of weeks to just heal on it's own since it was intermittently bothering him.

 Well the Vet did not find anything, just prescribed something topical and an antibiotic to prevent infection.

 The Vet walked into the room and said "so, this IS a 12 year old Great Dane, you're doing GOOD!"

 He is a young Vet and said it was the first time he has seen a Great Dane as old as Hank.

 The Bill was $136.00 including the meds. NOT TOO BAD, Cheapest Great Dane Vet visit I have ever had. He weighed in at  120LBS now. Hank was a good boy to from and at the Vet's. He got to go in Tractor Supply on the way home and I bought him a big Chew toy that he wanted, LOL.

Dan, a 12 year old Great Dane is unheard of.  It means you're a great doggy-dad.  Maybe some good genetics, but those are kinda rare with the big breeds.


My after-work plans changed since I basically watched YouTube videos (since our IT team is swamped and a couple days behind in work).  Instead of working in the woods, we may just go for a walk and enjoy the quiet crunching of snow.

My 200lb+ Newfoundland made it to 12yrs old and my 200lb+ Mastiff made it to 11yrs. 12yrs is the limit for huge dogs.
