I'll scrape an inch or so of snow off the driveways and clear the windshields so I don't have to do it tomorrow.    It's a pleasant 13 degrees out so no need for socks or pants.   I did throw on a light fleece, gettin' old.

Woke up this morning and knew that if I was going to spend any time in the shop I would need to split some wood for the stove. I wasn't looking forward to it. It was 27f.
I got on line in search of an affordable log splitter. I found one at Harbor Freight. It was the display model and I picked it up for under $250.
In about an hour Betty Lou and I had enough wood split and stacked to last a couple weeks in the shop.

It was 5 degrees colder at your place than here.🤔 and I'm a mile high.

I woke up and got up at 3:30 this morning.

Plans are mostly Church related as is every Sunday at my house, and relaxation is the next on the priority list on Sundays.

We were worn out after splitting and stacking firewood yesterday and went to bed about an hour earlier than normal. That resulted, for me anyways, getting up an hour earlier this morning.. 3:30. The girls (Betty Lou and Boss) are still sleeping.
My plan today is to finish splitting and stacking what wood I have in logs. I also have my eye on a few fallen trees I can drag out of the woods in the back and along the drive to drag out with the atv. I'll get those staged to be cut up with the chain saw.
33f out right now and predicted to hut 60f today and no rain in sight.
I think Betty Lou will spend the day in the kitchen preparing and packaging meals for the freezer.

Just checked tracking and I have a couple packages due to arrive today.
A sling stud mount pica rail to replace the one I stole off of the Fortitude and a reseal kit for old Copper ('68 "dan"). I may get to those later today.
The AR2078a showed signs of C02 leaking out the tube cap when I had it out last time. I may look at that too once the shop warms up to C02 friendly temps.

 I plan to go into work for part of the day, cut a load of firewood, maybe do a bit of scouting tacks for the Holiday antlerless hunt starting soon.

The string mower is back in business, mowed the front half with it yesterday. Had to take it easy until I get it broke in. May ride up to marriana to get some things from china freight that are on sale. Just about have all the things I need to put the van back together probably start on that next week. Still waiting on the final paper work for it so I can get this back on the road. Just take the day as it comes.

First day of Shut-Down!
  This is the 2 weeks Maintenance can get some big projects done without causing Production "Down Time".
My guys at both Plants are more than happy to work for double and a half time pay....
 Me, I am salary so get the same pay as if I were at home for 2 weeks, so I don't feel bad about sitting in my office surfing GTA ..
That's the penalty for being "white collar" Maintenance Manager while everyone else is off, but it is the life I chose some 30 years ago.
Wouldn't know any different anymore.

I didn't look to see what time I got up but I know I slept exactly 5hrs 30min.

It is no plan Monday. It is clear and sunny today, supposed to get up to 77°F today. The next 4 days we are only supposed to get into the 60's - 65/63/68/69

Tomorrow's forecast says "Considerable cloudiness. Occasional rain showers 50% / 0.03" in the afternoon. High around 65F. Winds SW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 50%" but that is the only rain in the forecast. That's the only rain in the 10 day. So it is forecast to be mostly DRY and 6 out of the 10 days are supposed to have highs in the 70°s F   

We do need rain but in Jan - April we have time to get it.

Ok, I have a 4 day weekend.  Yesterday was day 1 and I feel recharged.  It’s looking like it’s turning out to be a nice day out and I need that.  I do get bummed during the dark winter months.  It’s worst is during Jan and Feb.  it’s easier when we are in the holidays….

Today is time to start getting the boards up on the walls in the bath and laundry.  I’ll work on that today.  I NEED to get outside and pull a trigger or two.  I’ll work some airguns today and planning of working some PBs next week possibly.  I’ve been stocking up on ammo.  I have a new boom stick that needs some breaking in.

Wow, I'm glad I checked the nws. We have a 30% chance of a white Christmas. I know it won't stick as it's suppose to get up to 50 on Christmas. It'll be a nice Christmas present to the trees but our vehicles will hate it. It's suppose to start around midnight Christmas eve.

Had a mouse digging under the outside shop shelf so took it apart to find the little bastage under there so off it ran with me chasing it around until it got away from me. Bet it won't come back. Dug the dirt up and placed a 2x6 in place that I cut to size with the handy skill saw then covered it all back up. Still have another section to fix tomorrow. If I had a gun with me that would've been a dead mouse.

These traps are awesome... easy to set without getting your fingers snapped. I even caught a large rat with the bigger one.

Mornin y’all. Again.  Up with the pups this a.m.  Another day in the box.  Not real happy with our new manager.  He really dropped the ball.  We have one volunteer and no seasonal employees because of his poor management.  Winter is normally our time to do maintenance and make major repairs to the facilities but we’re stretched too thin covering all the other shifts.  The loser drug his feet on hiring to fill a ranger position so we are still one ranger short too.  In the three years I have been at this park it has really gone in the toilet.  I guess its time to move on.  They’re looking for a Park Service Specialist at Tom Risch park out on the cape and I’ve always wanted to work at that park.  Better get my application in.
