Good morning, watching the tropics as usual. Finished the outboard motor and chainsaw drama yesterday, the power company finally showed up so that is done. This morning is round 2 dealing with missing packages, fight the health insurance garbage, and anything else that has gone stupid this week. I hate to say this but I really need a vacation from retirement for a minute.

Nope!! There's no days off from retirement.😡 At least we get unlimited sick days.🤔😁

We got several years service from them but, like anything else, they have a limited life span. I ordered the replacement for the second and it took an unusual amount of time for the "shipped" notice. During this time I realized that the one that died was an 8 camera unit and we only used 4 cams on the unit. So I cancelled that order and ordered a 4 cam unit 4 days ago. It is out for delivery today.
Today Betty Lou and I are going to decide on the best locations for 4 cameras. This new unit will display static on a 32" screen in the bar (hdmi) and through the home network for wireless to our other devices.

I would like to get some security cameras for the house, but I have no idea of how to hook them up, nor how
to use a dvr to record / save the video files.
And I sure don't want to pay someone to install them.

They would have to be battery operated, because I don't know about electricity either.

Any advise?

Ring cameras are very easy to install and are available battery powered or hard wired.   I don't know if they can be hooked up to a DVR.   There is a small monthly fee for cloud storage/recording.

All done and working...
System 1 is in the living room.
System 2 is in the bar.
I need a longer Ethernet cable to tie them into the network. I may run out to the local joint and get one later.
Once that is connected and configured I can get alerts and monitor from anywhere at home and away.

These systems locate and grab a human face and blow the face up for snapshots. It's pretty cool.

LOL... I went out to the shop and it caught me coming back in..  It grabbed this series of face pics. I can also turn this feature of or set it to send to my cell phone.

That Smart Pics feature is turned on from factory settings. I forgot to turn it off in the settings. We only use it when we leave for extended periods.
Funny... when I first hooked up the living room system I was looking at the 32" screen up close and Betty Lou came up on the porch.. her face popped up on the screen and kinda freaked me out.. I didn't know about that feature.

It don't capture Boss' face... somehow it distinguishes human.

Back from the woods and much happier now!  The leaves are thick on the trees on my permission and I chased a couple of young squirrels around the hickories, beeches, and oaks behind the cemetery.  I loosed off a couple of shots from the 362 but both missed.  I sat under a huge magnolia to avoid the worst of the drizzling rain and listened to the river chuckling over the obstructions in its bed twenty feet below me.  When I got home the memsahib greeted me with some excellent news.  Our favorite child will be visiting her aunt in Texas for a spell. 

Those of you who have adult children living at home might sympathize.

Going to town with la munequita to purchase the necessaries for her birthday feast.  Then I have a collection of hand saws that I intend to paint wildlife and landscapes on for the craft show circuit.  I’m really looking forward to getting started on that!

Ron, I have the solar Ring spot light cameras and run them through my WI-FI. I have the basic plan for 2 cameras and only pay $100 a year for the service also with the basic plan Ring does not access your privacy or your camera. The other Ring plans do. You can access the recorded video through the Ring app or Ring.com. I have been with Ring for 5 years and never had a problem with service or the cameras. I did not want running wire all over the place and then dealing with power outages on top of that. This has been the best option for me, so long as my MI-FI is charged and the camera batteries are charged, the cameras will continue to record even when the power is off. Also I can be somewhere else and still have access to the cameras through the Ring App on my cell phone.

Kris same here with package woes. Had a idjit ebay seller ship my items to someone else's address. Never had that happen to me in my 25yrs on there. Some people's children.

The package I am looking for was shipped on Oct. 22 and went into Fedex limbo at Ellenwood, GA on the 25th. I emailed the company and they said it was delivered today at the post office. I will have to go the post office in the morning and see if that is the package. This is Fedex Smartpost, really people. I had a 5lb. package of nails shipped USPS from Modesto, CA and it was here in 2 days. I will just have to find somebody that ships USPS for all my supplements and vitamins. I have a few Ebay missed sent stuff in the past, luckily they finally made it to my P.O. Box in one piece. Just another exciting day on the shipping frontier.

Up around 4:30 and finished the normal morning routine. Having coffee and pondering the planned directions for the day. I have things in mind to do but that depends on materials I have on hand.
It's overcast with a 20% chance of rain and expected to reach the low 80's. That will also affect my plans.
I think Betty Lou plans some painting in the bar. No color change, just refreshing. Lots of stuff to move/cover so that may affect my plans as well.
The good thing is.. we have no deadlines.

Got a nice fat doe with the crossbow last night and she's hanging in a tree in the back yard so today I got my work cut out for me. Time for the processing!

Mornin y'all.  Up with the pups this a.m.  Last night I mounted a 3-9X40 Hawke Vantage scope on the new Beeman 1332.  This morning I went down to the river bank and did a rough zero with 25.39gr JSB Kings.  I started at 2700 PSI and there was still some hammer bounce on the first two shots.  Eight shots brought it down to about 2,100 PSI.  Accuracy is excellent.

Today is the memsahib's birthday!  I plan to spend the day pampering her.
