I did finally make it to the range.  I burned a bunch of cheap Russian .308 averaging about three stovepipes per 20 round magazine until I remembered that I have to pre-lube the steel cased cartridges. I switched to shooting the Crosman 3622 and my prediction about windy day groups proved to be true.  The 17gr Ruger superpoints outshot all other pellets at fifty yards.  The wind was picking up but I didn't want to go home so I pulled out my Hatsan Mod 135 and some JSB kings.  Unfortunately the JSB's couldn't buck the wind as well as I had hoped.  I decided to stop wasting expensive pellets and went home.  Now I'm holed up at the shack wondering if it's too early to start drinking and listening to it rain.

These days I do things half as fast and half as far off the ground.
Not sure of the plan for today yet. I know Betty Lou mentioned a trip into the city yesterday but she didn't say when.

Thing is Bill, my feet were on the ground just not where I needed them. I've got to go to the VA for a full body scan for skin cancer. I can't wait to hear what the doctor will say about all of the bruises.😜 I'm going to say, well doc, this is what happens when I talk back to the boss aka my wife.😂🤣😂🤣 Oh and yes I'm really sore this morning.🤕🤕

Robert, you are suppose to dance with you wife not the ladder. I have missed stepping the bottom rung a few times and only suffered bruises. The ole sayin' "one step at a time".

While sunning on the back patio some crows piped up disturbing my peace so I disturbed theirs with my 12ga then after they flew away I enjoyed a lot of sweet silence. Shotguns tend to solve problems rather quickly. Who knew?

The patio was covered in acorns, fallen limbs and leaves so I blasted it clean with the blower and ran the local cat off in the process. Another day of living the hard life.

Looks like I might be the only one up and around on the forum this morning. Probably because I woke up at 3am and couldn't get back to sleep. I got up and put on coffee and the news so I could see what Milton did overnight. I do hope all made it through with minimal loss.
No set plans for the day.. supposed to receive my cell phone upgrade today and those are typically a joy to set up.    we'll see.
Boss went out and walked the whole fence line barking just to let the World know she was there. When she realized the World didn't really care she came back in and went back to bed.

I'm up Bill, not much going on around here, it is unusually quiet for a Thursday morning. Very little traffic right now. Make a mail run this morning, top off the truck. Clean up brush piles from cutting back a couple weeks ago. Mow and plow fire lines while it's dry.

Betty Lou is up and moving around now. Temps are reportedly starting to cool off today.. I welcome that.
I may get out and fire up my new chainsaw and start cutting up all the limbs that I've gathered and piled up over the Summer months. Everything 3" in diameter or larger will get cut into wood stove size and the rest will go on the burn pits.

Good Morning, I went to bed at 1:00 and woke up at 6:00.
 I got up right away.

 I had planned on up grading the SSD in my most used laptop to a 1TB drive today but I can't find my USB to IDE and Sata 3.5 and 2.5 drive adapter. It's funny how I thought I saw it in the drawer where I usually keep it a couple of weeks ago. Well, it is not in that desk file drawer or any other now. I went through all my PC misc hardware drawers thoroughly and my PC repair tool boxes too.

 It seems to have disappeared into the ether.
 
 I need it to clone the current drive. I do have a couple of other options but I am fairly confident I will find it today because I went ahead and ordered a new one.

Took the wife to the eye surgeon this morning. I'm out waiting in the truck for her eye surgery to be done. I guess they're even knocking her out for this. Depending on whether they need to put a gas bubble or oil bubble or even no bubble at all whether she'll need to stay in a motel here in Flagstaff tonight or be able to go home. There's a few thousand feet difference between where we live and Flagstaff. If they do the gas bubble and maybe even the oil bubble she won't be able to go home. We'll see about 2-3 hours what the doctor had to do.

 It was in a box on a high shelf with some other PC stuff, Oh the box was marked with a mark as to what was in it too. 
 Where it was, I now know I did not see it recently.

Not much planned for the day... might go hang out with Nick and Alayna and drink a few beers. He is home from work in Florida due to Milton. He'll probably head back out on Monday. He works setting high voltage power towers and cable and he's about 6 months in to a 2 year job. Yesterday we talked about having some of these larger trees taken down around our place. There are 5 pines that are 20" or more at the base and 80'+ high. We'll have to have professionals take them down due to proximity to the house. It will require a bucket truck and cables to take them down in sections. He told me to get some quotes and most likely bring them down in the spring.

Got a 5-day weekend for it’s spring break.

Was gonna go to a gunsmith yesterday for him to drill my Fortitude tube at a precarious angle for it to accommodate a PROD/17xx valve and breech, but he was asking $100 for just 2 holes and a week to get it done   

I made a template and did it myself, although it did take me hours.

There’s something so satisfying when you’re able to do something beyond your capabilities with excellent results even though it takes you forever 😂

So I've got today off then back for six days.  No OT either.

Today I intend to make some appointments with the quacks and then I have several gardening, airgun, or art projects I can work on if I like.

Mornin y'all!  As I mentioned the boss pulled a Romeo Foxtrot with the schedule and asked me to straighten it out.  So I figured out a way to do it but it involves me losing a weekend.

So I've got today off then back for six days.  No OT either.

Today I intend to make some appointments with the quacks and then I have several gardening, airgun, or art projects I can work on if I like.

Something I really don't miss since retirement. Even though I was on salary in management in the front office we were an automotive metal stamping company and supply and demand dictated our working schedule. I did get overtime but it was Korean overtime which meant I would get half of my broken down into hourly wage for each hour over 45 hours per week. Also, living so close to the plant, I was the first person called when there were issues in the off hours. 6 and 7 days a week were common. If issues caused production to stop the numbers had to be made up.

Had a eventful day hit a deer on the way to work. Got the shot loaded at the construction sight and waiting to shoot it. It's only 1130 but I'm ready for this crappy day to end.

Will have the crotch goblins for the evening only plan is to get a bday gift for my nephew.

No pool at Pops today.  Mom and Pops have Dr appts.  I have a leak under the kitchen sink so that will be my before work project then around 1330 I’ll leave for actual paid work.  Another 32 hour shift ahead.  Off @ 2300 Saturday.  Just got word yesterday that I’ll be working at least one extra shift every Saturday until December now.  I thought I was going to be done at the end of this month.  I’m sure I’ll be seeing many more 4 in a rows in that time frame too.  Just gotta keep my head down and moving forward.

This morning began as a cool 51 degrees out so when Betty Lou got up I talked her and Boss into going out to the Red Shed while I fired up the wood stove for it's first burn to actually produce heat.
A couple pieces of junk mail, a few twigs, a small wedge of fat lighter and a couple small 2x4 cutoffs and the shop began to warm up. I watched the thermometer on the wall go from 55 to 62 in 20 minutes or so. I stepped out to have a look at the chimney to make sure no embers were escaping and all I saw was the heat waves like the stuff that rises off on the desert sand.
I could hear the draft sucking into the stove and the pine was crackling. I closed the damper a bit and the cast iron stove heated up real good. It was awesome. I put my hand on the walls near the stove pipe inside and out and couldn't feel any real heat. Any apprehensions of danger have been completely removed.

Nothing like a fire for heat especially in a wood stove.  That stove was a great score!  I’d love to have one just like it for the same price you paid.  I like the old style.  Picture with the fire going???

I didn't think to get a picture... I will next time... promise. I see a whole lot of opportunities in the near future. I need to work on my list of winter projects to do in the shop.... I mean besides drinking beer and watching football on the TV. But then again, there is that.   
Also looking forward to stuff like cowboy coffee, stew made in cast iron and Dutch oven biscuits.
