Up at 4:00 AM - SS, church, home.  Weather here has been great for the last couple of days.  It’s mostly sunny but cooler than it had been and than it normally is in August. Yesterday the highest I saw was 87°F, I didn't even turn the cooler on until afternoon! Then, I just had it turned on low for a couple of hours. Today is supposed to get to 91°F, it is 80°F with 21% humidity at 11:45AM.

The wife's van is working fine now and away she went. I can do anything I want  ...Make lunch, look to purchase a new springer and maybe do some plinking 

What springer are thinking about getting?

I have a Cometa 300 coming.  Says delivery this Wednesday.  It’s my first Cometa.  I have quite a few HW rifles, I’m looking forward to comparing them to the Cometa.  I’m really excited!

I have a Cometa 300 coming.  Says delivery this Wednesday.  It’s my first Cometa.  I have quite a few HW rifles, I’m looking forward to comparing them to the Cometa.  I’m really excited!

Was planning on a Gamo Whisper Shadow/Silent Cat in .177 (nothing fancy, Lol). Something inexpensive, light and relatively quiet with open sights that I wouldn't mind getting knocked around. Already have a few Gamos but all are .22. Unfortunately, PA is out of stock and w-mart won't ship to home or store in my area... Maybe I'll call the store and see if in stock. If not, I have other springers from most other brands to keep me busy.

Hope you enjoy the Cometa 300. Hard to beat HW rifles but always fun to shoot something new.

Mornin y’all!  I don’t mow grass except at work (where I get paid too).  My lawn is “au natural” as we say.

Off to the place of penal servitude today although I’m feeling rough.  My shoulders are pretty bad right now and it makes it difficult to sleep.  If I feel bad enough today I’ll call it quits and go home.  But since I’ve got a young fellow working this shift with me I’ll probably limp along with his assistance.  It ain’t all mentoring and leading from the front.  Sometimes it’s nice to have some help.

When I was a kid working on construction jobs, there was often some old guy (frequently a miserable old busturd) who ran all the construction sites.   He had all the answers, most of the time.   It was really weird when one day I realized that I had become that old guy.  Never did figure out all the answers though.

Funny how that happens.  I was always the "new" guy.  Then one day I was suddenly the senior ranger.   Clearly someone has blundered!

We had a church picnic today at 11:00 am.
It was warm, humid and overcast with thick clouds
Us old folks sat and talked while watching the young folks and their activities.
The young folks threw frisbees around then played volleyball & soccer.

Morning..
Up at 5am this morning. Made coffee, fed the dogs and let them out. I sat on the front porch with my coffee while they did the business. Nice crisp and clean morning.. I love waking up with coffee outside in the mornings when the weather is cool. It's like watching the World coming back to life.
The plan is to go have more coffee and a breakfast sandwich with all the old dudes from town at the local diner. Then I'll make a run to the drug store when it opens to pick up a script of antibiotics.
Not much planned after that. Just stay off the foot for another day to let it heal up some more before i put it back in service.

This is exactly what’s happening to me… I’m OK with it, being the oldest & most experienced guy here. I’m growing my white beard out and letting the young bucks handle the hard labor more.

Good morning GTA! Happy Monday! Back to the grind and I’m On Call this week through Labor Day. I got up at 0500 and I’m at work. I need to rebuild a drain for a reach-in produce cooler. Hopefully, this is all I have for today. I need to seal my back deck that I rebuilt before the rain comes next week (supposedly, anyway). 😁

Mornin y'all!  Drivin boats today so it's already a good day!  Thing is I'm the only guy assigned to boats today.  No way I can drive all eight.  I did the 0940 and got the boss to do the 01100 boat.  I'll have to shanghai at least one more ranger.  I can manage 6 tours by myself but that's about the limit.

Just got back from dog walking with my daughter. Only 2.8 miles today.

I really need to get some better shoes if I'm going to walk with her tomorrow. The toes on my right foot are not happy right now.😡

As soon a s Dollar General opens I'm going after more raccoon bait, they're not getting Starkist tuna this time they're getting Clover Valley. I had a customer last night, but I forgot to latch the rear door of the trap and he ate all the tuna and opened the door and got away😬🦝

The cheap cat food from DG is better, it gets everything coons, possums, and rats. Get the salmon or tuna flavor, anything fishy. Take a phillips screw driver or some round and sharp, punch holes in the can. Take some wire and run it through the holes in the can an tie to back of the trap. This way they can't eat it in one sitting and they have to work at getting the can down which eventually cause them to set the trap off. I am using those cheap traps from china(harbor) freight and the back does open which makes it easy to place the bait. Good Luck.

For today, it's wide open getter done day, first thing this morning is load chicken feeders, then finish clearing out for the chicken pens, and move plants around and get them ready for winter if when that ever comes, I am starting to think it will never come.

Like Kris said.  I use cheap canned cat food and just punch a few holes in the can and dribble some of the juice around.  The stink will bring them in.   Wire the can to the trap so they have to step on the trigger to get to it.

Spent about 20 minutes in the shop today cleaning up some demo and mock fitting some stove pipe. That's about all I could take with my foot. Had to retreat back to the recliner and elevate my leg. Maybe I can stretch it to an hour tomorrow.
I can now see where one of the nails nearly broke through the skin in the top of my foot.

Yeah I did... and an antibiotic shot and a script of pills. I hadn't planned on it at first but between how quickly it worsened and the encouragement of others I thought better.
