Got the lawn mowed. Started at 0615 and finished at 1200. Grass is tough this time of year, part of the yard had to be double mowed due to those bahia shoots popping back up. Anyway I cut part of my son's yard as well. I'll trim another day.

I'm trying to decide the best of my options using recycled materials I have on hand, to plug up some leaks in the atv shed roof. The repurposed tin roofing I used is pretty bad with leaks. I originally thought of using left over roof coating from the RV but I don't think it will hold up to all the debris that falls from the trees above it.
I have a hunk of tarp that I used for the same purpose on the under side of the shooting deck down at the bar. The problem is that it is too long on the short side and too short on the long side for this shed. I also have that large roll of chicken house wall tarp that I could get the job done with 2 overlapping runs. But it's bright blue and does not blend well with the natural looking building and it's surroundings where as that other tarp is brown and does blend well.
My next move is to take Betty Lou out with me and see if she might share an idea that I haven't thought of. She may not have the perfect answer but often times she says something that gets my creative juices flowing in a different direction.

I explained the options that I was considering and asked her thoughts. Her first response was to ask how much of the ceiling would need to be covered to protect the ATVs. That question was enough to solve the problem. The goal is to protect the ATVs. Why not just cut the tarp in half and use them to cover each ATV when they are parked in the shed?  The roof does not leak above the work bench I built in there. That is not an issue. Just do the NASCAR car cover fold on the tarps when not in use. That also solves another issue we had at the bar shooting shed. The leaks from the rain would make large pools of rain above the tarp that had to be pushed out after a rain. Wasps also found the space between the tarp and the tin roof a good place to build homes.
Who knows, one day I may see a pile of tin along the side of the road for a new roof.

Mornin y’all! Summer is a busy time for us park rangers.  We’re very short handed and broke so no replacement parts, no new hires, no supplies, six day weeks, twelve hour days, and no overtime.

Typical summer here.

All I want to do on my day off is sleep.

We have a calendar on the wall at work to count the days until the juvenile delinquents kids go back to school.

Good morning, flooded again so yard work in some areas has been put on hold. The ground is so wet the worms and grubs are swimming around here. Worked in the garden some, getting the planter pots ready for the fall and winter stuff. Clean up a little in the house and shop. Take inventory of grocery needs for the month. If it is not raining this afternoon may ride down to the river to fish a little.

Going to go into town so the wife can get what she needs for her trip to S Carolina for 3 weeks. Then we're going to go to the 19 truck stop and try some of their pizza.

A small reunion today with kids up from So Carolina. She's growing up and has a boyfriend,  I have a hard time wrapping my head around children becoming adults.

 I'm on the Capt. Carter plan, totally chilled the day away, as the rush of the season is here, my weekends will soon be gone and replaced with a couple short days mid week.

Mornin y’all!  Man my sleep schedule is all messed up!  Can’t stay awake all day yesterday.  Can’t get to sleep last night!

Ink is the enemy of sleep.  I sat up most of the night inking a splash page for a comic.  Once the ink starts flowing I lose all track of time.  I look up and its four a.m., my eyes are burning, fingers cramping all the way to my shoulder, but the inked drawing is coalescing out of a swirl of pencil lines.

Gonna get some breakfast and see if mom wants to go for a boat ride next.

Same here, pulled a late nighter in the shop. Anyway I will figure out something to do this morning. Probably ride the roads both, vehicles need to be moved. Finish hunting up my fresh water fishing stuff. The last time I used it was before the hurricane hit this area. I had to rearrange a lot of stuff including my fishing stuff. So this will probably turn into a clean and toss session before it's over with.

 Well I think I am going to go to our house in town with my wife today, and see what we can accomplish with the inherited stuff there. There are still years of collected papers and books to sort and get rid of. And of course there is always the yardwork over and over and over, never ending yardwork. I will probably trim the rose bushes first. I need to clean out the sheds too but it's going to be too hot for that today. We just have to keep chipping away at it. We have gotten rid of a lot of stuff. First, we let my kids and grandkids take whatever they wanted. We will finish it someday.

That plan went away. My wife got a call from a friend who was supposed to call last night if she was good to go with plans for them to hang out today. She feels up to it so they will be hanging out today. That lady had open heart surgery a few months back and my wife has been helping her a lot since she has been having a hard time doing anything herself since. Her and her twin sons use to be members at our Church about 10 years ago but they moved to town and quit coming.

 I like taking Mondays off anyway, so I didn't need much discouragement to decide not to do anything but rest today.

Good morning GTA! Happy Tuesday! I took a mental health day yesterday, my wife had teacher training, so I stayed home with Ayrabella. Today it’s back to the grind, so I got up at 0511… it’s going to be real hot and looks like it’s going to get hotter the next 10 days. But, today I’ll start off indoors with a cooler/freezer service call.

 Told to shelter in place.  Major storm/rain again last night, all night.  Roads flooding, and closed.

 Work, switch over orchard irrigation, turm off the main well as that will have run 24 hours, that orchard took a bit to get all the damage the orchard mower guy did, took out a good 100 ft of drip line tottal LOL
 the other orchards under irrigation run from a spring fed well and pond, the pond is equipped with a sludge pump, and the other is on new plantings 3 years or less, that are fed by another spring fed well with a sump pump transfering to 2 1500 gallon tanks and then pressurized to the drip lines with a 120 volt portable well pump and a generator.
 And continue with fence patching and general clean up. Rain is forecasted but amounts are not enough for good apples.

Got the wife check in for her flight and sitting in the Wally world parking lot waiting for it to open. I've got to get some food for the next 3 weeks and it's cheaper than Safeway. Probably not going to be doing much of anything the rest of the day but snoozing.😁

Good morning if you like being flooded and covered in mosquitos, yep I am flooded again. So mosquito fogger goes on the shopping list this week. Clean up the utility trailer to get a riding lawn mower, pick up the mail, dig up worms for fishing, and anything else that I can do between the rain.
