Mornin y'all. I swapped shifts with another ranger so I've got the late duty today. Good thing too. The memsahib goes to pick the Iron Maiden up from the bus station at 01100. I don't want to be anywhere near that child. I have stocked the man shed with essentials and I intend to hold out there until she goes away.
Mornin'I woke up at 3am but went back to bed until 6 then got up and made coffee. Dogs got up, ate and went out.The main plan today is to go see Charles and see what's up with his C02 rifle. He was down with his back yesterday so he postponed until today... hope he's better. He was the Sheriff of our county for nearly 30 years and retired a couple years ago.He has a huge farm just outside of town but now he leases his fields out to other farmers for crops and grazing. He still maintains the barn and kitchen area for hanging out and tinkering. Many of the country elders and old farmers gather there every Sunday morning for breakfast. Betty Lou and I are on the standing invitation list and have gone several times. We learned so much about our town and county's history from listening to the old guys. They seem to be dropping like flies lately.I have a package arriving today that requires and adult signature so Betty Lou elected to stay home. That will shorten my visit with Charles. When those 2 get together it turns into an all day talk show. And most topics are repeats of previous episodes.
New headlights for the Silverado.
Mornin y'all. All quiet here at the farm. Didn't sleep much last night. Heavy rain this a.m. This is good. The Iron Maiden doesn't like rain. She'll stay in the house probably. I'm well entrenched here in the man-shed. I need more Claymores and barbed wire though. I was thinking of cutting down some trees to make an Abattis or a Chemin De Fer but it's raining too hard. The plans for the day are to improve the defenses of the man-shed, sit tight, and let the Iron Maiden make the next move.
Ok, I give. Who is the Iron Maiden? The only thing I can think of is Mother in law.Ron
Goofy kinda morning this morning..Took the gun to the post office one town over (ours is closed for repairs) and they wouldn't ship it because it said something to the affect of fire arms inside on the box. I even showed the yellow and green haired girl it was a pumper pellet gun... no joy.I went to the next town and the guy taped the box all up but the return shipping label I was sent didn't cover the cost because the clerk put priority tape all over the box and the label was for ground. I reached for my wallet just to pay the difference and realized I didn't bring my wallet... the plan was just to drop a box off at the PO.So, they only had clear tape for sale... ummm hello? no wallet. So I drove the 8 miles back home. 1 mile from home the low gas light came on in the truck. I nursed it home, taped up the box, grabbed the wallet and headed back out to the gas station and PO.On the way back home I noticed Sheriff West's truck at the local eatin' joint and stopped. He had the gun that needed attention in his truck so I picked that up.Just as I suspected, he rotated the new cart in (3 cart system) and didn't tighten it down enough to pierce it. I'll leave it charged over night to make sure there are no leaks.Next Betty Lou wanted to go out for Mexican lunch. Got home and one of the dogs that Nick had in the kennel at the barn got out. Boss and Rambo werea t the fence raising he!! over it. Nick's little wife was chasing it all over trying to catch it. Now Betty Lou is out there trying to help her.Me? I'm just enjoying the show.
