I guess I don't get it. I mean riding around on a zero turn and driving boats up and down the river enjoying the wildlife and getting paid for it. Even with cleaning the occasional bathroom. How can someone not care about that job enough to risk getting canned over laziness.

  If canned he will probably be shocked. From my experience those that treat their job that way think the boss will just have to deal with it, and so what???

My boss's dad was out weedeatin one day and took a piece of 12ga romex wire to the shin through a leather boot. It embedded its self into the bone.

Was that from some ^#(*% that couldn't be bothered to pick that scrap piece up off the ground after they cut the wire?

Man I hate to sound like an old codger and gripe about the kids these days.  I think it's because these guys I work with are so young.  Believe me, I was probably as worthless as this guy when I was 19.  I got fired from a few jobs before I learned to shut my mouth and carry my weight.  I think he's shot his bolt with this job though.  I just hope he learns from it.  He's got a sweet little wife and a toddler daughter.  I feel sorry for them.

I'm not sure if most young men care about carrying their weight.    When I was in my teens and early 20s I had some pretty tough construction jobs.   Sometimes there were old guys on the job.  Like in their 30s and 40s.  When we had heavy lifting, hauling, digging, whatever,   I would have died coughing blood before I would have let one of those old guys out do me.    Decades later I'm the old guy in the office managing the construction jobs.   I see young men dragging their butts or working inefficiently and I'd be flipping out on the inside re their lazy as--es.    On a few occasions I'd try to show them how to increase their work output.   If those kids had any cojones at all, they should have been humiliated that a 60 year old guy could outwork them for any amount of time but no, they're just pleased that I did some of their work.   On one occasion the owner of the company gently reminded me that I had more important things to do.   But that was years ago.   Now I'm even older and I've wrecked a lot of my joints.   Some rugged teenage farm girls can probably toss sacks of fertilizer and  bales better than me.

In many cases I've found it's one of 2 scenarios.
1. Their mom finally told them to get their lazy butts off of her couch and get a job or get out.
2. The judge said:  "Yes young man, you will pay that child support".

Good morning GTA! Happy Tuesday! I got up at 0500 on my own again. Perhaps, I’m getting better at getting used to 0500 again at least. I’m finishing up my second cup o’Joe. I don’t have a job on my schedule yet. I’ll have to hear from the office between 0730-0800. It seems this is the usual way it works now, since January. Don’t get me started on the old guys vs. the young guys in my industry. The young guys in my company are hard to find or qualify to hire and then when we do hire them, 90% of them don’t last long. The young guys we have now are typically over 35. Half of them are decent help.

Took 2 gabapentin 100mg last night and didn't wake up until 0900. I know, lazy bones! The vibration from the weed Wacker and chainsaw really make my hands sting. It's like slapping your hand down on a table as a hard as you can about 5 times🤕. Only thing that I can do besides take gabapentin is to wrap a ice pack with a towel and put my hands on it. It just makes the stinging go away.

Hunted a little this morning on the property, 2 more for the freezer and the garden is safe for a minute. Weed whack around the house and chicken pens. Work on the water system for the chickens. Clean up the shop some more and take inventory of supplies. Nothing much of anything else for now.

Do you wear work gloves? They help me with that. Also helps not doing everything in one shot but splitting the work into sections by doing one section then switching to other work for at least half an hour then get back to weed eating another section and repeat.

The Brits have much better expressions than we do.  One of my favorite is the English slang for any crude kitchen table type modifications is bodging. Thus “ a bodge job”,  “I really bodged that up”, “bodged together” etc.

Most of my work on airguns can be described as bodging.
