Mornin ya'll!  Day one of the big vacation!  I wasn't paying attention when I put in for time off a couple of months back and bracketed two weeks of leave between two weekends so I'm off for a total of nineteen days.

No shirt, no shoes, no plans.

Are we all poor people that fix our own stuff or are
we clever blokes that like to get with the job?

 350 dollars for groceries _ sounds like New Zealand.

I used to think I was clever enough that I enjoyed fixing stuff. I still do occasionally, but more often I’m too broke to have it any other way. It’s me or whatever needs fixing doesn’t get done.

Same here.

When I was growing up I saw my dad who was a great depression kid fix everything to save money, it was just what he did and he trained me on how to do the same. When my kids were growing up I fixed everything so that we had enough money without my wife having to have a job outside of the home, now I am just too much of a tightwad when it comes to paying for anything that I can do myself. While I am not poor by any means I know that I could be with the way inflation is eating away at my savings.


  Still I know I am blessed and try to be generous with helping those less fortunate and tipping service workers well when I go out to eat or do hire something done. I never had a job where I was allowed to received tips but enjoy giving others earned recognition.

That's how to make the most of it! The last few years of working I did the same to stretch my 5 weeks vacation (35 days) into at least 55 days off.

Good morning GTA! Happy Friday!!! We made it! Well, I just walked out of the chiropractor and I feel like a million bucks. It won’t take long to wreck it, but it’s worth the 40 bucks to me to feel like a million bucks, even for a little bit. I don’t have a job for today yet. It’s raining and I’m sitting here in my van waiting for my dispatcher to call me back.

Just lucky.  Summers here are busy.  We can’t take leave until fall.  When I scheduled this a couple of months back I wasn’t thinking “cool weather” as much as “slow season”. 

Mornin y’all!  Day two of The Big Vacation.  Started the day off right with a dose of Dr. Carter’s general specific for whatever ails you! (AKA an attitude adjustment).

Suitably fortified for the day ahead  the dogs and I are headed back to the sand quarry for a few hours of plinking.  Then I have to take mom for a pontoon boat ride.

This evening I may fire up the po’ buckra smoker and slow cook a Boston butt.

Cleaned fish, get the gear and boat cleaned up for the next round. Mow grass this weekend now that it is cooler to do so. Work in the garden for the fall veggies.

After living most of my life in the northern half of the country before moving down here in the sauna, I would consider this the better season to enjoy outdoor stuff such as parks like the one where you work. Surprised it is considered 'the slow season".

Lazy morning at home with coffee, pumpkin bread and a fire.

Did a brief outside pickup for the rain that is supposed to come tomorrow. 

Note I’m at work working a few hours of OT before my regular shift that starts at 1500. Very specifically at this moment we are chilling with coffee sitting outside cafe style.

As a native to the swamp I have got to agree with you.  I have never understood why anyone would want to visit Florida in the summer time.

We did notice alot of traffic in our little town this morning headed your way. This is a direct route to the gulf shores out of Montgomery.   Heads up, the birds are migrating..

Good morning GTA! Happy Saturday! I slept in until 0800 and got up soon after. I’m having coffee with no real plans for today. The rain has ceased for now, it’s cool out and the sun is shining. I intend to shoot an airgun, or some airguns, at some point. Probably straighten up some in the house, mostly today. We are supposed to get some more rain tonight, overnight.

I've been up since 4:30. I've had my coffee, fed the critters and headed out at daylight. I've already cut my last 3 panels and have one of them on the roof. I also took the section of fence that blocked the road access to the barn acre down. I don't want to keep driving over the bar acre that no longer belongs to us.
After that I pulled my 8 x 10 trailer to the barn so I can load it up with the rest of the stuff down there that belongs to me.

Good morning, up and running, well slow moving anyway. Finish cleaning up the nets, fishing gear, and stow them away. Mowing was put on hold for a flat tire, that is fixed so will get that done today when the grass dries out a little. Pull garden plants that are done for the summer and ready the pots for fall planting. The weather has been pleasant for a change 60's in the morning and 80's in the afternoon, no rain or hurricanes for a few days, so that's a plus.

Woke up to rain and it's suppose to rain all day. It's just a light rain so no biggie 😉.
