Dan I heard that! I brush hog and weed eat with the mower as much as possible. People would be surprised with the brush hogging a zero turn can do. I cut weeds and saplings up to 1/2 inch thick just fine and I don't do that often so I don't go through blades fast.

When we first got the 5 acres it was covered with sage brush and I cleared about half of it with a Scotts lawn tractor, I went through quite a few blades and tires too initially from the shape sticks it created, but that mower lasted 15 years. It had a Kohler Command engine and was unstoppable.

The sharp sticks/stems poked holes in the tire several times.

Finished getting the peanuts in the freezer. Patty pan squash is on the stove cooking, that will be next to go in the freezer. Heat up some lead for fishing weights and AG ammo. Make a mail run before I have to pry it out of the box at the post office. Hopefully tomorrow the outboard parts will be in and I can do a full service on it all at one time.

The endoscopy ended well, thank you.  No, we didn't eat any Chinese food but I did have a DQ milkshake.

Those oreo blizzards are really good too when they aren't stingy with the oreos. Recently the dq in my area switched to a cheaper ice cream that doesn't taste as good so I stopped buying them.

I got up a 4:50 AM after laying in bed awake for a while. My wife is dog and house sitting today at our youngest's place about an hour away. I think I am going to take the day to sort though some inherited stuff in hopes of reducing the excess. I will continue to keep an eye on my bad toe nail if it increases in pain at all I will get off my feet. It seems like the nail has tightened onto the toe for now and looks less swollen and less irritated and doesn't hurt much currently.

Replacement carb for a chainsaw is due to arrive today. That will probably be my first project.

Today is opening day for small game season.
The Dog decided that we should go hunting this morning.
He woke me up at 5:00 am, whining and ready to go.
We both ate and were out in the woods a little before sun up.
It was 43F this morning with no wind and no fog.
I brought along the 22 cal Crosman Summit Ranger and a tin of 22 cal Crosman 14.3 gr. Destroyers.
We saw fleeting glimpses of gray squirrels, high in the tree tops but that was about it.
This was the Dog's first actual hunting expedition and he has a lot to learn about successful hunting practices.
He gets all excited when he detects a squirrel then he runs around and barks a lot, trying to tree the squirrel.
That exuberant behavior doesn't work so well, he needs to learn to be still and quiet.
All in all, we both had a good time. We enjoyed the outing and the sunrise.
There is still a lot of foliage on the trees yet, the hunting will be better as the leaves fall.
After we got back, the Dog ate some more then collapsed on the floor, all worn out from the mornings activities.
The Cat had been out all night so he was fast asleep when we returned.

Give it time Tommy, mine did the same thing until he realized nothing was happening until I shot and that familiar pop was made. He has learned to bay them and stay under the tree quietly. I am still working on the retrieval part but that has improved in the last month. He does the dispatching, sometimes a little to much but it is not as bad as one being hit by a shotgun. It's beats having to go through thick brush or trying find where they crawl off to. I like to squirrel hunt with a dog, the squirrel stays focused on the dog which makes it easier for me to get a better shot at them.

I have duck hunted with guys that had dogs that would not have anything to do with anything that involves a gun. First shot and the dog is headed for shore, then it goes from duck hunting to dog hunting the rest of the morning. Then there are those that had dogs that would save them trouble of plucking them, now that is one heck a mess in a cold, wet boat.

I have some friends in town and this morning they want to walk the beach on the cape. Me, I will walk with a fishing pole in hand.

Before and after the rain yesterday they were shooting doves at the airport venue that our property backs up to. Rambo spent the day as close to his momma as possible. I hear they are already at it again this morning. Gonna be a long weekend for Rambo. Boss, on the other hand, runs towards the sound of gunfire. She will spend the day at the back fence line.
I will spend the day listening to the lead shot falling on the tin roof of the Red Shed.

I put a trailcam near the new den dug out under my shop yesterday but no pictures last night or critters caught in the trap yet. Maybe tonight. Is going to be a lot of work sealing that den up afterward as it dug 3 holes instead of 1 like last time years ago. The joys of homeownership in the country.

Last night was a terrible night of muscle spams. It started about 8:30 with my left hand cramping up, then the right hand and left arm, the my left arch followed by my low back, left calf, then the right calf and thigh. The whole course lasted until 1:10 AM. This is the worst session I have had in a long time, maybe ever.


 I didn't want to get up when my 4:00 AM alarm went off, but I did.


  Other than being tired from and confused by it happening to that extent I am feeling pretty well today. I have always had muscle spasms/cramps in my arms or legs fairly frequently since I was a teen and my doctors have never figured out the cause.

I know that is a factor with me sometimes although it wasn't yesterday. Yesterday I also stayed out of the heat and sun all day too, which is often when I have an increased occurrence. Yesterday I just sorted stuff and shredded papers all day. Except for the break in the middle to disassemble the paper shredder and clean it out, and fix it.

The Labrador puppy we just acquired came free because she is gun shy and the breeder won't sell dogs that "can't hunt".  Flytrap hates gunfire and Flash hates thunder and fireworks. 

All three are just fine with air rifles.

Morning and welcome to Monday.
Up and attum at 5:00. Dogs fed and sippin on the first cup of coffee.
Weatherman Ben Lang told me that we are moving into Fall like weather with temps finally dropping out of the 90s into the 80s. Lower humidity and no rain for the week.
As of right now the plan is to cut up and move the 2 trees I have on the ground then work on the lean to addition to the Red Shed.

Good morning GTA! Happy Monday! I had been down with a flu since Thursday afternoon. Today, I’m back on my feet, I got up at 0630. I’m not sure what’s on the agenda. I’m getting ready and I’ll call the office around 0800, if they don’t call me first.
