Good morning GTA! Happy Wednesday! I slept in until 0530. We were supposed to have a service meeting this morning, but my service manager canceled and had to drive home last night. So, I don’t have a job on me yet. I’ll get ready for work, then change the pool filter and get the pool ready for Ayrabella and the grandsons. By then, I should be able to get ahold of the office to figure out where I’m headed. I’m really looking forward to this weekend. The line trimming hasn’t been done in 3 weeks or so and now the mowing really needs it too.

I never wear the same pair of boots 2 days in a row, been doing that since I was in the Army.

I swap 2 pair of boots most every day also.  I have been using a boot dryer every day also.  Helps with moisture and odor.  Now if I could just add changing socks to the mix.... 😱 😆

Good morning, 600lbs of animal feed unloaded and most of the feeders are loaded up. The usual garden chores, process meat and get that in the freezer. Finish mowing the jungle again.


The mileage that I have put on my feet over the years, I have gotten away from the heeled, metal shanked, all leather boot. Not worth wearing in this hot, humid, and wet environment. I started wearing Bellville Boots, they are light, your feet don't sweat in them, and dry out quick. I wear the minimalist boot which takes about 4 to 6 weeks to get adjusted to them. It is as close as you can get to being barefooted. I can not wear anything with any kind of raised heel. To keep my feet dry with socks, I use 95% acrylic toe socks, my feet and boots stay dry with them. The toe socks reduced a lot of skin problems on my feet for me. The boots were my at work boots, now they are for around the house yard work.

Going to be pet sitting in Prescott valley for the next 5 days. 2 great Danes and 4 goats. Been weed whacking for the last 3 days so it'll be a nice vacation.😁

0430 wake up.  Commute in to work.  At work now listening to all of the stories of old.  Have marching orders and will head out into the concrete jungle here soon.  Looking forward to hitting home base and hanging with my peeps.

Nice boots guys and yes I mistakenly had the wrong guy in my head....don't drink and post boys.

I wear my boots with strings tied but just loose enough to slip off when I'm done so I don't have to tie and untie strings daily. That also helps get more air into the boots while wearing them so I don't have skin issues or have to swap boots. I squirt scent killer spray into the boots around once a week since the odor killing enzymes do a good job.

Good morning GTA, Happy Thursday!!! I got up at 0430, started coffee and dozed back off for 45 minutes. I put in for a vacation day tomorrow and got approved. So today’s like Friday for me. However, my air conditioner has sprung a leak, again. It’s a slow leak, though. Last year I couldn’t find the leak, but, this year- I’m pretty sure I know where it is. I put refrigerant in it last week and my wife woke me up at 2245 and told me it was down again. I’m going to gas it up this morning before I head out to work. I’ll have to fix it when I get home.

…me too, I bring spare sox, but rarely change them. Unless I really have to, but I should more often.

I like Belleville boots, I wore some in the Army. I have one pair that are steel toe, I put rubber toe caps on them and inserts with met support. I have worn them to work, when I couldn’t find Carolina’s. But, I’ll keep them for working at home now. I also have a pair of the hot weather issue boots with met support inserts that I wear when not working too.

I was required to wear 8" high, all leather in my line of work. Then the state let up on that and started allowing us to wear NFPA rated shoes. In turn that allowed me to buy boots with the rating with my boot allowance. I could find the Bellville boots on Ebay brand new, in my size, for half the retail price and the allowance would cover it. 2 lbs of shoes is way better than 6 lbs of clod hoppers in knee deep mud.


So for today, it's get some more retirement paper work done. Cooked most of the day and will get that in the freezer this morning. Piddle in the garden a little. Finish getting the grass cut.

My first pair of climbing boots when I entered the apprenticeship in 1999.  These have been rebuilt and modified a couple times over the years.  They are Wescos.  I had a second pair of climbing boots but I donated them to another lineman when I moved into the troubleshooting dept years ago.  Those were Hoffmans.  Somewhere along my career I dropped using climbing boots for just a normal leather work boot (Danner).  Even the Danners (Rainforest) quality have decreased over the years and I stopped buying those.  They got to be spendy and buying a pair every couple years with declining quality turned me off.  Eventually just went to boots that I consider to be "light hikers" (like the Keens I currently wear).  Work boots are now disposable items for me. 

Up at 0600.  Making cappuccino at the moment while Mrs. P is in the shower.  It's Family day at work, basically a paid goof off day for the utility.  We will mosey into work with the three youngest kids (11,14,16) walk around showing them off the the other workers and their families, wander around and do the many activities that have been set up for the kids to do, break some rules and show off the equipment and areas that I really deal with on a daily basis.  We'll head up to the gym and take turns beating the snot out of B.O.B., racing on the rowing machines and trying all of the various weight equipment.  Then I'll bow out early and we will go do our own thing for the rest of the day in the or around the city while I navigate around the gross parts of town.  Not sure what we'll do after that....

I cleaned up some/more Magnolia leaves from the driveway in town and got my haircut done.

Brett, the Keens I have appear to be the same style/model you pictured.  However, the pair I have is a little newer.  I wore them today - very comfortable.

Headed out to work on the fence project. With the heat index expecting to raise to 107 again today we can only work until around 10am.

Just got back in after pulling 6 "T" posts out of the ground. I use the wince on the Rancher and wrap a length of dog chain around the bottom of the posts. Heck of alot easier to pull them out than it was to put them in.. 
Only took 30 minutes to pull 6 of them. Getting ready to go back out and set them in the new fence line.
Then I want to paint marker the trees we want to take down. I estimate about 30 or so of them ranging from 5 to 10" diameter. Just trying to open things up to get some sun to hit the ground and get some grass growing.

Good morning GTA! Happy Friday!!! I’m on vacation today, 3 day weekend for me. I haven’t mowed in 2 weeks, haven’t trimmed in 3 or 4 weeks. It’s a jungle out there. I slept in until 0600. I’m on my second cup o’Joe and it’s already 80* outside. I did get my a/c fixed, yesterday after work. It was another pinhole leak on the bottom coil of the heat pump. One of these days I really need to replace the whole system. With that said, I dumped my whole van on the garage floor as I pulled tools out to fix it. So, after my coffee- I’ll put sharp blades on the mower, get the trimming done and blow the 2+ foot debris onto the lawn, get the mowing done and then put my van back together. I’m sure I’ll get in the pool and maybe even a nap after. The grandsons are coming over late this afternoon and spending the night.
