Good morning GTA! Happy Monday! I got up at 0530. I’ve had a couple cups o’Joe and I’m just waiting around to see if I have any work for today. If they don’t - for just this day, I’m fine with that - I have stuff I’d rather do. But, after today- we really need to start getting busy by now.

Typical morning routine.
Finished up paying bills for the month online and automated phone calls.
Need to go to the courthouse to renew the truck tags.
Parts for the Sentry 705 are out for delivery.
The rest of the day will be totally based on the urge to do whatever.   
I need to reorganize the Red Shed after the addition of the casting corner yesterday... see above statement.

Sunchokes planted, working on the rest of the tomatoes, pollinated the squash, groped the strawberries-the berries do a good job of hiding. The bug battle has begun, had to spay the leafy stuff. The aphids, leaf miners, and cutworms have started their attack. Work on the riding lawn mower so I can hook up the lawn sweeper to sweep pine cones and get the rest of the yard mowed before the great floods begin. Who said retirement would be easy, they are nuts!

Up and at 'em early-ish considering my work day starts at 8:30 (I was up at 5:30).  After Sonja headed to work, I started on the push mower I added pneumatic tires to.  It performed amazing in the woods, but I did find a few roots, and to say the blade is now "bent" would be an understatement.   I put the blade aside as there's no way I'll be able to straighten for re-use. 

I plan on working on another freebie mower acquired over the weekend and this one may be worth fixing.  Standard 21" single-blade mulching push mower with a B&S 550ex 140cc engine.  Water in the gas likely, but some cleaning and maintenance with some fresh oil should bring it back,  Might need carb...

I'm sure I'll find some fun projects to tinker with this afternoon.

I have a long list today, that includes lunch with my youngest but I have to get after it to get it done today. We will have a house sitter here until the middle of May as my wife and I take a rare trip together to MO. Our leave time will likely be sometime tomorrow. So the list is everything that needs to get done before we leave. I doubt I will finish the list today but I am going to try to leave as little as possible for tomorrow morning.

Den work today. Finished some concrete removal and started the primer for filling in the last edge of floor with patch.
Snapped a line for the stone fascia that will be applied once the floor is done.
I'll let the 4 coats of primer dry for a few hours then start the patch fill in work.

Just got off the phone with Safelite. For some reason my windshield on my 07 ranger cracked right down the middle during the night. It was ok when I went to bed but in the morning, WTH!! Insurance agent said there was probably a chip where I couldn't see it and became a crack. I do have a chip but it's on the passenger side and all most to the right side of the windshield.

Does the '07 Ranger have any of that?

Are you using a concrete grinder?  I had to do something similar at my home in Virginia Beach before I sold it and it was a dusty nightmare of a job.  I don't mind drywall (except inside ceiling corners), but I haven't done enough concrete leveling to make sense of the best way to do this type of work.


I spent lunch doing some tinkering on some mowers; I'm convinced companies should offer pneumatic "upgrade" kits for push mowers now.

I'll be using this grinder for this small area. It hooks up to a shop vac so NO DUST!


I poured self-leveler in this room so really no grinding to speak of aside from a few small spots the Dewalt took care of.
Now if I was still doing commercial work? Here's what I used!
Hepa Vacs with pre-filtering! Didn't even need to vac the floors afterwards.


That stuff there is what I hauled from California, to Rhode Island, and MANY places in between when I was pre-Retired.

Evenin Y’all.  I flat hit the ground running this a.m.  Back at work with the hammer down!  Spent several hours “mentoring” a new hire.  It cracks me up that they ( you know! THEM!) expect me to be a role model to these youngsters.

Nope, it's as simple as it's driver.🤪 and that's what I love about it. I have a 2021 tundra but rather drive my old 07 fx4 ranger.

Well so much for plans, but I did get all the five acres mowed and edged. It started of slow with the blades I bought at tractor supply turning dull right away. I had another set of good blades so I put then on. Then I found some chainlink fence tension wire someone threw by the fence (found with the blades) 

My list for tomorrow is long now, so I don't know when we will leave. We are driving back to MO.  So we will leave when ready to, It may be Wednesday morning?

I have an '07 Ranger as well. Love the simplicity of it, and hardly any problems at all.

I almost always check with Project Farm before buying anything lawn and garden or farm related. If he does not have the item you are wanted tested make a request and within 2 weeks you will see a test on your item, I did this for a hose clamp test.

I just talked with another guy that’s a bit more senior here than myself, wondering what in the world’s going on. We should be busy by now. I don’t mind being a little slow at first, before it gets stupid busy, but it’s about time we get going.

I'm gonna go out and swap the pins in my .25 cal mold to a heavier pellet and fire up the pot. I also have a batch of poured pellets that need to go in the tumbler. I'll come in and shower while things are coming up to temp.
I must have been extra tired this morning, Betty Lou got up with the dogs and I didn't even hear anything until she was coming back to bed.

Good morning, plans(<dirty word) for the day, get the last of the seedlings into pots, pick up mail to retrieve truck parts, fix truck, get order in for zoo food, drag riding lawn mower out and mow the grass(that project got passed over yesterday due to weather), and whatever else needs gettin' done.

Jeff, I'm envious of your equipment for the work.

Sonja's moving some 3-5-7 round rock we got in trade for the Yamaha golf cart I fixed a few weeks ago.  `We'll be getting another small load (each one is a few tons) once we move all the current rock.  And by "we" I mean her- by her choice.  Later today I may have to run by TSC for a new battery for the Troybilt Pony.  I have it on a trickle-charge at the moment but remain dubious as to longevity.  I also need to grab a couple 21" lawnmower blades, maybe a couple inner tubes... and some pellets if they have wadcutters.
