Apparently it missed us..
It's now 5pm and the rain has all but stopped. We got maybe 1/2" of rain preceded by a bit of wind. Nothing to even speak of.
Meantime.. I very much enjoyed the time in the bar/mancave.

Mornin ya'll.  It's warmer today than yesterday and the memsahib and I plan to work on the green house project.  Might burn part of the garden today if the wind lies down.  Yesterday's expedition into uncharted swamp was very productive.  Hog sign was observed in several locations.  I scouted a flood plain and a chain of swampy lakes that meanders through a sandhill formation covered with monoculture plantation pine.  It was a beautiful day and I saw a lot that warrants returning and exploring more. 

Found some hog sign in my trails too but thankfully no damage in my yards. I had a rotten tree leaning over the fence so I pulled it down into my trail with the tractor and a chain to spare any damage to the fence and my having to fix it. Pushed the tree to the side of the trail then did a lot of brush hogging through the trails.

Supposedly we're suppose to get 2 feet of snow starting Sunday. That means we won't be going anywhere for at least a week or more.

Well I got distracted this morning looking at cars online for my wife. So by the time I got back from my errands it was almost 4:00 PM. I ate a burger and got to work on it. It was very nice out, about 68°F. 
  I did get the new fuel pump installed before the sunlight was gone. I picked installing the new fuel pump first because I was pretty confident it was about a half hour job for me including cleanup afterwards. The truck was also struggling to start without being primed the last couple of times I ran it, now it fires right up again.

Good morning, I still have a roof, waiting for daylight to see what I have to clean up this morning. Agenda for today, move plants back into the fish cleaning shed ahead of the predicted cold weather, install a new boat winch, reseal around the plate that holds the seat, finish the tackle box holder. Didn't get to the cast nets the other day so that will be in the things to do today list. Just enjoy a quite day in the yard.

Good morning GTA! Happy Friday! I slept in until 0600 CST. I stayed up way too late last night. My wife landed in Oregon at midnight-30, my time. So far, I walked the dog and got  Ayrabella on the bus. I’m having my second coffee and I’m in no rush, with no real plan for today. I’ll figure it out as it goes today. It’s a bit cold yet, but I’m sure I’ll shoot an airgun later. I have to get Ayrabella off the bus this afternoon and then she has a 3 day weekend with me and the dog.

The dogs let me lounge in bed this morning so I watched the local news until 6am. Then when I got up they acted like I did something wrong.
Betty Lou got up shortly after and we are having coffee. She's making the plan for meals today beginning with breakfast. She's got her tablet out so I'm sure it will be interesting.
Temps are expected to get into the low 40's so outdoor activities are not ruled out. 6 people died from the drop in tornadoes in Alabama from that system that came through yesterday. It went north of us and we just got some wind and rain. I did hear some more winds blowing through during the night but I don't think it was enough to cause any damage here. I can still see some wind in the trees and bushes on the security cameras.
I'm not in any hurry to do anything today. Just take this Friday 13th slow and easy.
I'm not superstitious... maybe mildstitious..

Monday the 13th sounds much more ominous to me.

The Iron Maiden got back from Brazil yesterday in spite of the FAA mess.  Words cannot express my relief.  Our brilliant but unstable daughter infrequently upends our life with some bat s#!t crazy episode.  The day after Christmas she flew to Brazil to meet her on-line boyfriend.  I was sure she was being catfished.  But she's back with all her organs intact and sleeping off the jetlag.  She's still excited about the boy but not impressed with Brazil so this will probably wear off in a few months.

This is the third day of my three day weekend and we are running low on rum.  I'll probably head into Hooterville at some point to lay in some supplies.  I'll spend most of the day in the Man cave/shed/studio fiddling with air rifles or drawing.

Today is free dump day at the landfill. My 14' trailer is loaded and ready to go.

When I got my Texan I sent a text to my life long friend... Serious... "Life Long".
 His mother and mine are the definition of "BFF", in school and still are today. Butch and I have known each other since the day he was born because he is a year younger.
 Butch knows I am into airguns and he is an avid turkey / deer hunter. So a .457 caliber airgun really peaked his interest!
 Ran into him last night at the liquor store (believe it or not) and he was asking what the heck I got, so I invited him over this weekend to shoot it.
 So either today or tomorrow (weather permitting) we are gonna throw big chunks of lead and some small ones down range here at my house... that Butches Dad and Uncle helped my Dad and Uncle build 50 years ago.

Then I got my newest adventure... casting... to try at some point this weekend.
Need to go to work and grab my pyrometer and an immersible thermocouple, so that may be tomorrow.

Good morning GTA! Happy Saturday! I got up at 0600 CST. Ayrabella & I camped out in the living room with Chillie last night, that’s what she likes to do when Mom’s not home. All 3 of us slept pretty good. Not much planned today again, just hang out at home. I’ve got a couple ideas moving some furniture around the office and straightening up a bit. We’ll see how it goes. We got Ayrabella a pet gate for her bedroom, we might go into town to get another one at Lowe’s for the office. It makes it a lot easier to keep the door open, there’s a lot of things the puppy can get into still. Today’s supposed to get to 50* or so and warmer the next 2 days… it’d be nice if I could get some shooting in with my little shooting partner too, if not today- tomorrow and Monday should be in the 60*s.

Searching for a house with some land in New York State while living with my gun-hating father who basically thinks anyone who has an interest in guns, or airguns, or anything related is somehow stupid and trashy. 

Trying to help him in his old age, moved cross country since he won’t budge, but it is a daily challenge because he looks down on me and anyone who doesn’t live a wealthy lifestyle, and heaven forbid has any interest in shooting or related stuff. 

I feel stupid to complain about it here, but maybe some of you have the experience of family members who are intolerant and judgemental and vocal about it, and never learned to live and let live.

Finally made it to the landfill after the trailer sat loaded for the better part of a month.
The GMC wouldn't start and the jump box needed charged so it was an hour delay.
Got to the dump and Dennis complained because anything on the trailer that could hold water was holding water. He let us slide but warned us to be careful in the future. The EPA sees liquids on the ground and shuts them down while they test it.
Junk needs to be separated from large metal items such as appliances. I knew this and did a fair job loading it accordingly.
While unloading the under counter dishwasher my boot got hung up and I took a tumble...
As if in slow motion, I had to consider the following on the way to the ground....
Betty Lou was on the other end of the unit.
My leg was directly under the unit.
I'm a 2 time survivor of a broken neck.
And everything in the landing zone was jagged hunks of rusted metal.
Damage report..
Minor leakage from my elbow and knee.
Tear in a pair of my favorite jeans.
Bruised shoulder. And most importantly, my pride.
All in all.. an adventure.
