Afternoon y’all!  Up at the crack of noon.  The almighty has seen fit to pardon me today.  The tropical storm off in the Atlantic has sent the powers that be into a tizzy. Fear of Hurricanes affects politicians far worse than the rest of us so they have shut the whole state of Florida down and sent all us state employees home for the day.  With pay!

. They gave us Wednesday off here in the panhandle.  The storm ain’t due to hit South Florida until Thursday night.

I call it an abundance of caution.  Wish they would exhibit this type of foresight in their other official endeavors.

Good morning GTA! Happy Thursday! Up at 0430 CST. I’m on my second cup of coffee and I have a 2+ hour ride to my first job. Should be a nice day, tonight it’s supposed to rain and the temperature is going to start to drop afterwards.

It is 38°F and suppose to get to 66°F today. I would say in my neck of the woods but, there are no woods near my place, just dirt, sand, rock, and weeds mostly.

70's today and 70% chance of rain. 60's this weekend and all next week but no real chance of rain. Now where getting to my kind of weather. I love being outdoors and the smell and warmth of a good fire. But my beer budget tends to go up.

Another leaf raking day.   10M pistol match this evening.

I'm going to strip, sand and refinish an old Neeman RS2 stock I found in the junk pile. Got a new RS2 Siver Kodiak to go it it. I like that satin/stainless look inlight colored wood. I've had for a whilt an RS2 in wood with the stainless looking finish and shroudded barrel with about 5 inches if shround beyond the muzzle and holes in that. Got a 1044 model with the same look and color and shroud, but smaller with a direct sear trigger and same type shroud.

Ordered a couple of barrel accessory mounts and a couple of offset scope mounts and two BSA Edge 2-7x28 pistol scopes to go on the barrels.

I went running the dirt roads on the ATV alone yesterday so I only used the 5x10 trailer. Betty Lou plans to go with me tomorrow (after the storm bows through today). So I grabbed a cup of coffee and drove to the barn, unload the Rancher and swap trailers to the 7x16 double axle trailer. Then I loaded both ATVs up and strapped them down. I'm still somewhat short winded and that will save me the wear and tear tomorrow morning. Both ATVs could use a hosing off so I'll let them sit out and maybe the rain will rinse some dried mud off of them.
After a bite to eat I'll head to the mancave and create some awesome apple and cinnamon smells...

If it clears up and if the mower will start, I'm gonna' mow the yard before I start shooting from the patio.

Good morning from the mancave/bar...
I got the propane pot going with the magic juice in it. An extra added ingredient this run. Betty Lou had some apples left over from her apple cinnamon bread so I cored and sectioned them and tossed them in the pot. I may even transfer one of them into each quart jar of the finish goods. Now it just a wait until the mixture comes up to temps enough to melt the dry ingredients so they don't scorch in the bottom of the pot. Won't be long before this place starts smelling like grandma's kitchen used to.   
It's such a perfect fall day for this type activity.

I normally make a 3 gallon batch but I only had enough ingredients on hand for a 1.5 gallon batch so cook times will be reduced. I may even use pint jars to make more single serving friendly drinks. A pint should be plenty to get the motor running... 
The key is to stand up slowly after consumption...

Update...
We have reached the steam point and the smells are beginning to fill the air. Now to slow it down and let those apples make the magic.
Last batch I made was a little too sweet for me. Those apples are going to add a little tart. Should be awesome.

Well the rain has started so I’m gonna hole up in the man cave.  Went for a long walk through my permission this a.m.  I’ve got four air rifles to pack for shipping and some painting to do.  I’ll stay busy.

OK, after a 3 minute boil the heat gets shut off and the natural cooling to room temp begins. The apples and cinnamon sticks will continue to deepen the flavors. It's smelling mighty good 'round here.

Are you making something like apple pie liquor using grain alcohol?

There is another part of the process that I won't go into for obvious reasons but it's not grain alcohol.
