Well I got distracted because the pull switch for my ceiling fan lights in my bedroom stopped working so I fixed it. I then fixed a stained glass tiffany chandelier pull chain and socket, that I have put off a while, since I had the ladder in the house already. Now it is in the mid 80's°F and I don't want to go out in the heat. Oh well maybe tomorrow.

I am all comoed up getting ready for my first Fall Squirrel Season outing.

Dawg woke me up at 04:00... whining and staring me in my face.
"Something is wrong" I thought, so I got up and let her out to do her "business".. 10 minutes later "BOOOM" big clap of thunder and then poured rain.
But only for 5 minutes... now all is calm and we are both wide awake.

Good morning GTA! Happy Saturday! I slept in until 0530 CT. I’m on my second cup of coffee and pretty soon I need to get moving. We have a men’s breakfast at the Ch**ch at 0800, first of its kind in a few years. I’m hoping it’s good all around. I’m also on call this weekend, so other than that I don’t have much planned. I do intend this to be the last day for the pool. Today should be good, but the water temperature is going to be too cold afterwards. Hopefully I’ll be here around 1400-1600 to jump in when it’s probably warmest.

Mower is broke so I need to order parts to fix that, in the meantime I will reline the weedeater and do some much needed trimming today.
 Need to make a walmart run so I may have something to post in another thread.
Then I hope to start clearing out the pole barn... I got so much JUNK in there and winter is approaching.
 I need to think about the snow blower.... ugh!

  I have been up for a while and think I am going to go outside until it gets too hot. It's 70°F now and will be 87°F around 10:30 AM, the high is suppose to be 99°F. My lawn tractor broke last time I used it and I have put it off this long but I really need to fix it or replace it soon. So, again I have about three hours to get something done out there before, then I will come inside and read, study and stay cool.

I'm thinking of going to the gun show.   They are usually a waste of time but I like to go about once a year.   Sometimes I need a hard to find part and some old timers at the gun show might have them.   Course you can usually get it on line but it's fun to paw through a random box of rusty old parts with a crochety old yankee mumbling about how he's pretty sure he's got a box of them behind a stack of egg cartons in the barn hayloft.

Breakfast with the men at Ch**ch was pretty good. Came home and jumped in the pool- invigorating, it’s 87* outside- 55* water. Too cold for my wife & little shooting partner. I’m going to take a nap and hopefully we’ll all get in the pool one last time this afternoon. Tomorrow before Ch**ch I’m going to hook the hose up to drain the pool. Neighbor’s cow had a calf born yesterday. Looks like they’re about to have another any minute, my wife and little shooting partner is out there watching her. They had 3 cows all female, then four with the bull getting born last year and a half or so, now 5 and could be 6 any minute.

I got friggin' shingles !!!

I woke up this morning and could barley breathe. All the muscle on the right side of my body hurt like heck. I noticed more blisters and blotches (rash) on my hand and up my right arm. As far as I know, there are no fire ants in the bed and fire ant bites don't spread.
A quick Google search confirmed shingles. No doctor open on Saturday so off to the ER again.
Sure enough. 2 steroid shots in the butt and 2 prescriptions. Stop taking the other 4 pills I got on Tuesday.
Dudes, shingles ain't no joke... I'm a mess !

Ran my new chainsaw for 15 minutes. Sure enjoyed reading the
owners manual. Are people really this freaking dumb?

Yes. Yes they are.
When doing demolition work? I probably spent half my time watching out for some really dumb arse stunts!
Taking down some duct work in one building? The duct was about 4 foot side to side. 1 lift on each side and the Guys would cut a section out.
Brainiac came up with the idea to climb on top to speed up the work.
Should have let him have a go at that! Would have saved me having to fire him later.

Oh no, Bill! My mom had shingles, it’s no joke. Painful and could linger quite some time. Sorry for you Brother. I’m praying for you.

Oh no Bill! I am praying for you. I had singles in January of 2019 and still have pain from them at times, it is lessening as time goes by though. It is not just the skin that hurts it's all the way through muscles and bones too.

Dang Bill!  That inhales sharply!  it usually appears on the torso but can show up anywhere you’ve had a bad trauma.  I’ve had it off and on on my left shin.  Fortunately it appears in an area that I have no sensation in due to trauma severing the nerves.  Basically I get the eruption without the pain and only a little of the itching.

Stress can cause shingles.   Another good reason for you to retire.   I had it a long time ago when I was working about 15 hours a day 7 days a week.   I had it on my torso around the beltline on my left side only.   It was so painful I had to stop working and in those days nothing stopped me from working.

I got my 1st shingles shot about 2 months ago.

Good thing my son reminded me to get one, and he's also the one who schedules my appointments.

Fortunately I don't have it on my torso, yet. Unfortunately I have it pretty bad on the palm of my right hand, fingers, bicep and now it's gaining ground on my armpit. My hand is the worse of it for the rash because I can't make a fist. The most muscle and bone pain is my right pectoral, shoulder and elbow. That's why I thought I blew out another rotator cuff.
The ER trip got me 2 steroid shots in the butt and 2 scripts for a zpac and some other pill. Both I have to take several a day for a week.
Something I didn't know.. Shingles does not cross the center line. You either get it on the right half of your body or the left. It would be very rare to get it on both. I would have rather got it on my left side because that's my weaker side due to total reverse shoulder replacement and no existing rotator cuff and I'm also right handed. At this point, I can't even grip a gun or pull a trigger.
It's all good, I have many other blessings in my life. This will eventually pass.
I have a special personal relationship with my Higher Power and my faith is strong. And that's all I'll say on that topic.
