Good morning GTA! Happy Friday!!! Up at 0430 CT. Finishing up my last coffee at the house and then I have to get ready to get on the road. I’m pulling my trailer with me, I have a crate of parts on a pallet I need to pickup, then a 2 hour ride northeast. I have a 17+ year old package unit that we need to rebuild. The blower motor mounts broke, the condenser fan shroud broke- sending the fan blades into the condenser coil, slashing and thrashing it. So, we have to replace the condenser coil, the condenser fan motor, fan blade & top shroud & remount the blower motor. Best of all, it’s getting new R22. They should’ve just replaced it. But, should be a good day for me & the newest- new guy. I haven’t met him yet, but when I called him last night and told him what we were doing, he said “Rad!”… I’m not sure what planet or generation he’s from. Should be fun. 

Well, while it seems logical to just replace a unit that requires that much in parts, time and labor, management does not look at it the same way. Depending where you are in the fiscal year, fix and repair dollars may need spending versus capital improvement dollars. Sometimes, it’s just the guy that needs to sign off on a replacement is on vacation. I learned to just shake my head and move on.

Good morning GTA!  Gonna be another yard mowing Friday for me!!! I got up at 0415 CT this morning. I want to get an early start mowing. I'll probably start in about an hour or there about.  It's 62° now but will warm up quickly like yesterday, high of 89° predicted under clear skies.

John, I guess I'm just too old, I've never, I mean NEVER used the word "Rad" in any sentence. I've heard it used by some guy from California but it not even in my vocabulary.

It was definitely a term from my generation, but would’ve felt weird if I ever said it. I guess I’m going to find out something about the new guy when I get to the job. It could be fun, or he could be annoying. We’ll see, but it’s Friday- regardless.

My son rode a skateboard some. I stepped on it one day, just to see if I could get the hang of it.  As soon as I put my weight on it .... well I can't remember the next few hours after that moment. Witnesses said I didn't fall gracefully.

I use to ride skate boards back when they had clay wheels. You're riding down the side walk and 1 of the wheels hits a tiny little pebble and it stops dead. Of course you don't and........ Luckily I was young at the time. I also made my own board so it was half the size of them now both length and width.

When I was young they were made from a 2x4 and a 2 piece metal roller skate.
I didn't ride them the either.....

I used the trucks off of a roller rink skate. I use to go roller skating ever weekend because my dad was the guy who would skate backwards and keep order on the rink floor. J

One of the reasons I limp is because of skateboards.   I was visiting friends.  Their teenage sons were showing me their skateboards.   I had to try it.   I actually was able to ride it down some hills without falling on my first try.   I have better than average balance.  Kids were impressed and I became fascinated by skateboards.  This new obsession quickly brought me a shortboard, longboard, 14 wheeled deep carve bowl board and a mountain board with suspension and brakes.   I was about 50 at the time.   Shortly after I was foolish enough to think I knew what I was doing, the BIG crash came.  Worse than any dirtbike or motorcycle crash I've ever had.  I've sold all my skateboards.   Wife approves.  I should have started 40 years sooner.

I jammed my little toe on the corner of the dresser when I got up in the middle of the night to relieve myself.
Just walking seems to be a challenge these days, I certainly don't need a skateboard in my life.

My old Dog Town long board is hanging on the wall underneath my favorite air rifle.  It gets used more as a furniture dolly these days though! LOL!
My board was my back up transportation until I was in my late twenties.  With my board and a bus pass I could go anywhere.

Funny thing.  I didn’t start using all that California surfer slang until I became a serious mountain biker about 84.
Gnarly, righteous, agro, grotty, radical, manky, SoCal mount bikers all talked like board apes.

Ok, I got the mowing done Thursday evening and took Betty Lou grocery shopping last evening so the weekend is freed up to do non essentials.
The bar/mancave has somehow transformed into a catch all and airgun shack. The weather has cooled to the point where I don't have to run ac units to spend some time in there. The plan is to get in there and turn it back into what it is meant to be.

Yesterday after work I tried to get a head start on the mowing but on the second lap the belt came off the deck.
When I tried to put it back on, the tensioner was so loose it wouldn't work. Parked and came in for the night.
So this morning I get to work on the mower deck while to dew drys and then mow.

I just remembered.... Today is "Wings and Wheels" at the local airport today.
 It's an annual Fly in and car show. I live very close to the airport, it was my first job as a "Line Boy" and could ride my bike to work.
 The Downwind leg of the landing pattern goes over my house.
There has always been some old WWII aircraft that show up and I can hear a radial engine a mile away.
Might have to blow the dust off the 'Oldwing and ride over then mow later.
