Good morning GTA! Saturday, it is! Up at 0350 CT. Trying to use up my scrap metal leftover pieces to make something airgun related. Matt and Bill, I'm sorry you have to work today. That stinks. I remember those days oh so well.

Good Morning All,I lived in New England for 65 years, Southern California for 9 almost 10 years and have only been asked to leave my house once and that was recently with the Fairview, SoCal, Wildfire.Luckily my daughter lives in SoCal, not in the same area, so we moved there until things blow-over, a good thing. Got to spend more time with the Granddaughters and got to know myself on the inside of my head. The fire was approximately five miles away, as the crow flys, watching from the back door as the fire passed by. East Nor East winds were blowing then they swung around and we got a Warning Alert that high wind might be a problem for our area as well as a direction change... and wham-bam the wind changed to Southwest and guess what, my house was in the general direction the wind had decided to change to.We were very lucky, even though the wind was blowing our way the fire progress was slow, the died down, and GOD gave us some RAIN, thank you. The fire never got closer than the five mile mark or so we were told. It's been raining for a day plus, hoping for some more, my area went back to a Warning instead of an Evacuation Notice and we are still at my daughter's. I will be going to the house today to check here out, even though a couple of my friends are fire fighter and were keeping us informed about the fire and the house, I just want to see for myself. The area was blocked by CHP's but I think I can still get in.So I went through an Evacuation of my property, that was nerve racking, more so for my Wife, I had a hard time with leaving my latest project, thinking I might not see any of it again, but loaded the guns and ammo, and important paperwork, a couple of closely held item I didn't want to lose no matter what and took off.So right now things are looking up, water has a negative affect on fire so we are ahead of the curve once again, maybe home shortly... IF things don't dry out too fast.I also want to mention that there was a loss of 30,000 acres (approx.), loss of life, loss of housing, loss of so much, it put a lot of people in harms way... my situation was nothing in comparison, all I can say is Thank GOD.The fire is now approximately 40% contained, even with the rain, hopefully it will end soon, too many fires, 12 in California alone; not enough equipment to fight the fires. Also, too much over load on the electrical grid, which by the way COULD have been the cause of this fire; it has been suggest so. This leads us to another problem California has but this is not the place to go into it.Sorry I wrote a little too much, got carried away. Thanks for listening
Bill there is more on the way, I am sitting here listening to the thunder south of me right now. I've had at least 8 to 9 inches in the last 3 days this system has dumped. Wearing knee high boots to get around in the yard right now. Everything that needs some kind of repair is on hold with this weather.
