Mornin y’all. It’s one of those days that comes but once a year. I traditionally go hunting today. I’m driving boats at work today but I think I’ve got just enough time to sneak in an hour of hunting along the upper Sopchoppy first. Wish me luck!

Went to the fun shoot Saturday. Patch targets, straighten out my gun box. Mount a couple of scopes. Chase Miss Baby around the house.

I already washed last night's dishes, took out the trash and petted the cat. Drinking coffee now. Life is good for an old man.

Another regular workday at the day-job here, though many of our customers have shut down until the new year commences.

Still haven't pulled out the table saw nor cut any trim. But I did think about doing it, so that's sort-of working. I should be getting some nifty paperwork here in a few days; the remainder of the ESOP buyout from when our company sold, so we're making some plans to invest more in our IRA.

I've been awake since 4:10AM and got up at about 4:30 when I gave up trying to get comfortable enough to stay in bed. Been drinking coffee surfing the web, to see if there are any storage upgrades that will work in my Lenovo Flex 11 81A7 laptop. I didn't find much info but then I did a Windows cleanup freeing up 15GB more getting rid of the old Windows 10 files it saved when it upgraded to Windows 11. So now it has 21.2GB free, that's better for now. It has a 64GB eMMC/Sata in it Crucial and Lenovo neither have any compatible upgrades listed. Oh well, I don't use the lesser capable 11" laptop much anyway(just for travel), I like the 14" better not too big not too small.

So today we get to do it all over again. When we get to the point where I can hand it off, we have a conference call to do and then I have a service call I have to run to.

A bit of shopping with my kid and our boarder, then to Walmart for some groceries.

No work since Friday, and we go back on the 4th of January.

This is what like about being employed by the public schools 'cuz there are lots of paid vacations

Ha, need to gain weight, as I am still below 150 lbs, and my waistline is still at 28"

My 25 YO kid's is actually a little over 26", and he eats a lot

Good morning GTA! Happy Wednesday! It’s a little past Hump-Day for me, as I’m off Friday. Up at 0430 CT. This morning, I have my Wednesday morning meeting at 0600. After that I’m going to the chiropractor and then off to work. For now, I have just one call- an air conditioning issue that just needs some adjustment. I think they’re getting too much “free cooling” from the economizer instead of mechanical cooling. I’ll stick with it until I get it right and go from there.

It's supposed to be in the low 60's this afternoon, I may shoot a pellet or two.

My Dodge 3500 needs a new Lift Pump (fuel tank to filter pump). I will be a Diesel Mechanic and replace it myself but it won't be right away because I can't get it today and then we are going to have rain some every day for the rest of the year so my shop (the great outdoors) will be too wet to want to work on it, and I haven't decided if I am going with the stock type or upgrade the pump. I will be researching some more info about them, and don't need to rush it since I have my wife's Honda CRV or my 1969 GMC for transportation if I need them.
I also have to replace the faucet in the master bathroom, it started leaking on the back of it yesterday and floods the countertop when it is turned on. I may have my 19-year-old grandson that is staying with us to do the plumbing for me. He has worked for plumber and installed a few and while I could do it myself it would cause me pain contorting to do it. Starting on 1/1/2022 he will be a "full time" plumber, so he needs the practice, right?

I am going to do some outdoor stuff today, maybe take a short motorcycle ride since the weather is good today. We have Ch**ch at 5:00 PM too.

Oh Well, while I was typing I just got informed the grandson is not here, he is unavailable because he is busy working Catering jobs everyday for World Famous Tacos (his parents business) though the 1st of the year. So it looks like I am the plumber too. He made $800 last week working WFT jobs for his parents. Last Thursday alone they had three huge events and served about 3,000 meals.

I just got off the phone with my mechanic... The Titan has a bad fuel pump or plugged filter. We have the GMC so I just parked it in the barn a couple months ago. Now it's time to get it out and have the work don't Tomorrow is my last day of work until Jan 3. The Titan will go to the mechanic first of next week. I'll have to trailer it there.

Two days of driving boats in the cold and the rain and I’m sick. Sore throat and post nasal drip. So I called in. No more working while I’m sick or injured for me! I’m a stoic and I just work through stuff. But I looked the other day and I have over 1400 hours of sick leave banked. I thought, heck, they’ve got lots of gung-ho young rangers at this park. I’m gonna start acting like an old guy! The sun is shining today and I feel good enough to sit in the sun and shoot a springer for a while. I’ll check in with y’all later.

I'm trying to skate through this last year and 4 months as easy as possible myself.
While at work I rarely leave my desk or the office area.
I try to take 1 trip a day around the plant floor which probably adds up to about 1/4 mile.
Somedays requires me to do it a couple times.

The usual- start work at 7:30...

Only I put a 7 pound pork shoulder on the smoker last night about 6 PM and set it low and slow. Still have a good 4 to 6 hours

Air temps outside are helping; it dropped to 29 overnight and the lowest temperature is ~ 6:30, so the low/slow is still happening. Laughing Monk honey-mustard base with some Gulden's mixed in as well. The base caramelizes nicely, and the other "magic rub" spice blend includes some herbs from our rockscape garden out front.

I got notification some kilts I ordered are on the way, and Sonja and I have a few pounds of shortbread to bake this evening. We made several batches of chocolate chip cookies last night; it's pretty amazing how much better all the baked goods are using Plugra butter. It's without a doubt the best store-bought butter we've found.

Good morning GTA! Slept in until 0500 CT. Today’s my last day of work this week. I’m hoping I have just this one job to do and it’s only 30 minutes from home. I have a walk-in cooler door that’s on my trailer. I’m planning on being on the job by 0730, I also have to rebuild the drain lines while we’re there. My help is supposed to be there by 0800 and we’ll change out the door. I’ve only done one of these, ever, and it was quite awhile back. From what I remember, it looks daunting, but there’s really not much to it and it’s done.

Morning...
Woke up at 2:30 on this, the first morning of my 10 day Winter shutdown at work. Tossed and turned and couldn't get my mind off the pressing matters that need to be addressed first.
I have vehicle issues... again. It's always something.
The Titan has been parked in the barn for a few months with, what I believe, is a bad fuel pump or plugged filter. Either way the tank has to be dropped because the filter is on the pump and the pump is in the tank.... $:-\$
I'm not as agile as I once one and laying on the ground may turn into a permanent position for me. Is if that weren't enough, the brake light came on in the GMC and I can hear grinding.
So, the plan....
At daylight I will head to the barn, take the personal stuff out of the Titan and move the trailer that is in front of it. Then I will call the towing company to take it to my mechanic 8 miles away. Hopefully he can get that done by the first part of the week.
The GMC might be a different story... that truck has 340k miles on it. I'm not 100% sure the grinding is coming from the brakes... It may be a drive train issue. I'll address that once the Titan is back home.
The good news is that we are pretty well stocked up on things and shouldn't need to go anywhere for a few days.

Good morning GTA! Happy Christmas Eve! Up at 0440 CT. My wife has to go into town this morning for a few small Christmas things, bows & whatever…. I’m not sure what my plan is. Keep the girls entertained, I guess. We do have to wrap a couple gifts for my wife while she’s gone. I’m thinking about utilizing the unusually warm weather to shoot some Co2 rifles here or there. At some point after my wife returns, I need to make the garage off limits to put together some Christmas gifts for the girls. One of them is a new 12’ trampoline my mother got the girls. I’ll need to sneak out super early tomorrow to put it in the front yard…

Sorry to hear about your mounting automotive woes, Bill. Glad you don’t have to worry about it much to get it worked out.
