Spoke to my service manager, I’m taking my last paid personal day today. It’s sunny and calm and should break 50* any minute. I’m getting ready to mow, should be a great day, and knock that out in a couple hours. My wife’s headed to work, I’m going to do some shooting and perhaps a little Christmas shopping for her after I put the mower up.

My plans tonight are to kill a skunk that keeps digging holes in my yard. Anything that gets greedy destroying my property instead of staying in the woods where it belongs has got to go. If it sprays I'll spray over it with some hunter scent killer spray that gets rid of the stench via odor eating enzymes.

Good Morning GTA! Happy Tuesday! Up at 0500 CT. Once again, I don’t have a first call for work for today. Yesterday was great, I actually double-cut the entire lawn, it looks awesome. But I didn’t get to shoot, at all. This morning I’m going to get Ayrabella ready for school and get her on the bus. I’ll call the office around 0730-0800 to find out what’s going on. I’d gladly take another day off, though it would be unpaid. I’ve other things I’d like to do still. My wife has the day off, so she might not be thrilled to have me hanging around. But it’s that time of year, and I look forward to it every year.

Typical work day here= sort of.  I'm spending 3 1/2 hours training a customer.

After that, working on several fuel interfaces, then, if I have time, screaming at our dev team because they need it periodically.

I'm a bit envious of the time off.  December is always interesting for our support team- most of the team tries taking PTO, but we don't just support the software, we also do the implementations with new customers.  Most of these new customers try to get their implementations wrapped before the new year starts, so we end up scrambling and starved for resources while trying to ensure people get time off without neglecting training sessions etc.

A bit of a madhouse, actually, but it beats flipping burgers or changing adult diapers.

I woke at 5:00 AM and got up but went back to bed until 7:00 AM. It is a rainy/windy day, so I am just taking it easy, warm, and dry inside. The dogs don't even want to go out, when they do, they stay under the awning roof. I am sorting pics and rearranging files on my computer.

IT showed up today with a new PC for me, a NUC, it BSOD'd me four times before they came back to download the updates. it was a .NET Framework issue so no access to records all day.

I don't remember when my last BSOD occurred.
My least capable laptop that I still use (an 11 Lenovo"), that has an Intel Celeron N4000 auto-updated to Windows 11 last Saturday. Both my Desktop and the Laptop I use most are Intel I7's and are getting the "This PC doesn't meet the minimum system requirements to run Windows 11" message. I have seen MS is doing testing on I7's. I have also read about some that did a manual upgrade (that is unsupported) and none have reported any problems. Both of mine show the I7 as the only component that does not "qualify".

The hard drive on the small Lenovo now has 8.73 GB free which is too close to full as far as I am concerned. I do have a 1TB USB drive that I keep hooked up to it though

Correction for my memory My Desktop is a Intel® Core™ i7-6700T CPU @ 2.8GHz 2808 Mhz 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s) with 8GB DDR4-2133 RAM and 1TB hard drive and the Laptop I use most has an i5-6200U 2.3GHz 2401 MGz, 2 Core(s) 4 Logical Processor(s) with 8GB RAM 256GB SSD, so neither that aren't upgrading are top of the line but are not obsolete either.

I plan to do storm clean up today. It is currently 49 degrees on my back deck under the roof, and 43 out in the open. It feels good with brisk clean air, the high today is forecast at 53 degrees.

Today has been nothing but support calls and meetings.  I may slug my M25's barrel but doubtful.  Otherwise, some light cleaning and laundry.  I have a couple kilts that could probably stand ironing, and I need to clean a pair of slip-on Keen boots to ensure they are urushiol-free after spending some time last weekend extinctifying some thigh-sized poison ivy vines. 

Or I may just do nothing at all and relax with Sonja when she gets home from work.  I think we need to make another batch of shortbread.

Good morning GTA! Up at 0500-ish CT. All this week, I’ve had no 1st call on my board for work, this morning’s no different. Yesterday I did pretty good breaking down my scrap metal and clearing out my trailer. Then I got called to work at noon. I’m hoping to get the last of the scrap broken down today, if I can. My scrap pile sits on a 12’x20’ concrete pad the old house originally sat on. (Probably mentioned this before) But my goal is to get rid of it all this winter and once the pad is cleaned off I’m putting a 12’x20’ shed/garage on it. I’m thinking maybe 4-6 loads to the scrap yard and I’ll be ready.

We have had a rollercoaster of a day, we got up to 60F last night and heavy rain, its 18F now and snowing with high winds coming so there is a blizzard warning to boot. Gonna bring momma to work and fill the wood boiler. If this mess tapers off, I will go see my day today.

Up at 5:00 AM. I went out and warmed up my wife's car for her, she had to head over to our youngest daughters house about 35 miles away, to take a grandchild to the doctor this morning, because they are catering for 900 people this morning and have lunch and evening events too. The catering business is doing very well but means all hands on deck. So "grandma's" help is needed with the grandkid that has "abdominal pain" again. Being home alone (with the dogs) I am going to do some outside work on a shed that needs to be done, once it warms up a bit. It is 31 degrees at 7:21 AM at is forecast to get up to 57 today.

Whew..... Our customer, HMMA (Hyundai) has cancelled planned production for this Saturday. Our Winter shutdown begins on the 24th and runs until the 3rd of January.
So my plan today is... try not to wear the sole of my shoe out by tapping my foot in anticipation.....
