What a wonderful morning!! Momma picked up a shift today and I am finally off call so I slept in until 9:00AM! AMAZING!!Today the weather changes and we will be at or under freezing for the next week so the wood boiler gets lit TODAY. It will get loaded twice a day, every day until the average daytime low is 40F, next April. Tonight, momma and I are headed to Savana Portage State Park in hopes of seeing the northern lights. We have chased them for years and she has yet to see them so a little camping trip an hour and a half away is in order. Take care yall, see you on the flip side.
WOOHOO !! This is the day Betty Lou and I have been looking to reach for the past 3 months. Today we load up the final load of stuff from the old place and move it to the new. This will include our 6' fire ring, the dog kennel and the last of the stuff from my old shop.Betty Lou mopped her way out the back door of the house and locked the door for the final time yesterday. Today we will drive off of the property for the last time. Tomorrow I will hand over the keys. During the last week or so we went through a bit of a transition from feeling bad about leaving that place to seeing our future in this new place come to life. The dogs don't even try to go down the road in that direction anymore. That kinda shocked me as I totally expected to find Rambo down there laying on the front porch waiting to get in.
A friend has a severely bent cocking lever and linkage. I ordered a new cocking lever for my QB57. I'm going to tear down my 57 and TS45 and see if I can make the 57 lever fit the 45. The linkage from the 57 to the compression chamber is about 1 1/8 inch shorter. Seems I could drill a new hole 1 1/8 inch forward of the old hole. Not sure yet if the back end of the lever is close enough or the point that goes into the compression chamber. What say any of you.
Gil and Kris, I'm sorry about the tree and limb cleanup you guys have facing you but glad it didn't didn't do any extensive damage. We had relatively high winds all day yesterday, it's weird how it was blowing. Just about a constant 7-10 mph wind but it seems like every 10 minutes it would gust to 25 - 35 mpg for a few minutes then back down again to around 10.
