I manage to get scrapes and cuts on my arms too every time I demolish something. It seems my arms attract nails and splinters.

Bwanna, Snake Hunter!

Poured myself a cuppa-joe and I hear this shriek and a whimpering cry from outside and I just chuckle to myself since I have heard that scream before but since momma just shot here Bandit last night and was planning on shooting this morning before the heat comes, she left it out so I scooped it up, loaded a pellet and took out a 33" Garter snake at an impressing 4 feet!

I have an area for such events to place food for the crows/ravens but once I got there, a second Garter was sunning itself and again, from behind and VERY close to my left ear, a shriek and a whimpering cry filled the air when Momma saw the second snake and went running back inside the safety of our house to hide!

Bwanna, Snake Hunter dispatched the second "Spawn Of He ll" and send momma back out to finish her chores.

I would have let them live (as I always do when Momma is not around) but Momma will not go outside to do chores if I leave them to roam.

Same here. I give the good snakes a pass.

I started naming the good snakes I occasionally see in the back yard. The pine snake is Henry V and king snake is King George III, I have lizards, tree frogs, birds etc that I give names to.

It has actually made my wife less scared of those two snakes as I'll mention that I saw Henry today but he had to run he was in no mood to talk.

Oh forgot, the little woodpecker is named Fluffy.

The red fox pair are Hawkeye and Hot Lips.

I Was up at six with the dogs but it was raining so I crawled back in with the memsahib. This is the first July 4th in 15 years that I will not be working. Feels weird. Normally I would pray for rain on the 4th but this time I didn’t have to do my park ranger rain dance or anything!

Betty Lou noticed something in Boss's mouth late yesterday afternoon. She went to investigate and realized it was about a 5" box turtle. Betty Lou looked to where Boss picked up the turtle and found a nest in the dirt on the ground containing 3 soft eggs. She finally got the turtle away from Boss without either of them getting snapped... lucky for both. She replaced the turtle onto it's nest and brought Boss in.
Before letting the dogs out this morning she went to check on the turtle. It was gone but the eggs are still there. A few hours later she checked again.... turtle still gone and eggs still there.

My wife use to stay far away from all snakes but now she has become good at identifying the harmless/good snakes and is "braver". If we didn't have good snakes here we would be overrun by rodents.

All this talk of snakes has got me itching to go and check the local snake “hang outs”. Gonna take “Carronade”, my .25 caliber Hatsan Striker. It is equipped with a ghost ring peep sight for close range cottonmouth busting

Good morning GTA! Happy Independence Day America! Up at 0430 CT. My wife has to work today, so I’ll drop her off at 0700. I’m going to stream Ch**ch today at 1000 hrs. I got all the mowing done yesterday. I didn’t get the line trimming done though and the bushes need trimmed. I may try to get that done before Ch**ch. I didn’t get to shoot yesterday either, so we’ll see how the day unfolds. I have to pick my wife up at 1530, so I intend to stop to wash the car on the way. Our oldest daughter is getting baptized this evening at 1930, we’re definitely going to be there for that. We watched fireworks last night, but they’re doing fireworks over the 3 crosses and lake by her Ch**ch after the baptisms. We may stay to see that.

Good morning GTA! And yes indeed Happy Independence Day America! I woke up at 0530 CDST. I'm have way through my 10-day antibiotic and I'm feeling better. I think we'll stream Ch**ch today as well.

Congratulations on your daughter's baptism. That thrills me so. That's certainly the biggest reason to celebrate today.

As for me, not much planned for today.

Fireworks in town at 10 PM last night, pretty good for a small town. Took 2nd place in the parade competition... there were only 2 entries.

Just about perfect weather last night but windy today with a high of 90F.

Going to work on holdoffs in the wind with the .22 since Wally-world had 3 more tins on CPHP's on the shelf.

Was out at daylight shooting some springers.
Then I loaded up the atv and went to the atv park and played in the mud for a few hours... and there was plenty of mud to play in. Hosed it off then loaded it up and came home.. Betty Lou jumped in the truck and we went to the grocery store.
After we packed the goods into the house I gassed up the zturn and knocked down a 2 pass path across the 3 acre field between us and Killer's so Betty Lou could walk the dogs. While down the road I cut Killer's grass. Then came home and mowed ours.
Betty Lou is whipping up some finger food for us munch on during the Nascar race today.
All and all, pretty productive morning.

Rebuilding an old two place snowmobile trailer, cutting it down from 8 feet wide to six feet wide, removing the axle and raising it up 6 in, put it on 15 in Wheels with 245 r65 tires and metal fenders, finish up with LED lights early next week. Here's the skeleton.
