Good morning GTA! Up at 0400 CDST. I’m having my coffee and going to head out to work at about 0600 or so. My van’s a mess in the back, I need to straighten it up a bit before I get started on my first job. I’ve got a guy coming from Pine Bluff to help me out a little, between here & Ft Smith we’ve got a lot of calls to get to.

Good morning all!  I’m dispeptic as usual but I’ll live.  Ive got a difficult decision to make today.  I’ve been offered a new job.  I like my old job and I’m very comfortable with it.  The new job doesn’t offer anymore money and it is a much longer commute but it is a really cool job I’d like to do.  Tough call!

Good morning GTA! It’s Friday! Slept in til 0600 CDST. I didn’t get home from work til 2200 hrs. Then dinner, shower and wind down because I had a coffee at 2100. Didn’t get to bed until 2330. It’s that time of year. This morning, though, I’ve got a doctors appointment at 0815 before I can go to work. Then, I’ll do whatever I got to do til the doing’s done, because I’m not working this weekend.

Good morning John, good morning GTA! Much cooler this morning, 64 degrees Fahrenheit, looking forward to a high temperature of only 82 today.

Got a full day at work ahead of me, campers already on the back of the pilot, three hours North brings me to The Boundary Waters Canoe Area, helping a friend refurbish their house on the edge of the Boundary Waters on Saturday, back home Sunday to get Church set up for Teen Challenge choir. I'll try to check in with y'all this weekend.

I got to work this morning to the office buzzing. I was instruct to go to the HR office to pick up unemployment papers for my guys. Seems we will shut down all next week due to the chip shortage. We will return to work the following week. We will then work one week and begin our scheduled 2 week Summer Shutdown for retooling.
Being a salaried employee, I will receive my normal pay for all.
What that means...
Beginning at 5:00pm today I will be off for 9 straight days after which I will return to work for 5 straight days. Then I will be off for 16 straight days.... all paid.

HUNNY !!! DUST OFF YOUR PARTY DRESS !!   ...we gonna get a little lead and alot of mud on it.

I mean... I get 3 weeks per year paid vacation... 4 weeks per year paid shutdown and stuff like this pops up periodically. Why retire? I sit behind a desk while I am here. I get paid to chat with you guys.

I confess that I envy you Bill. I rode a desk as management until Mrach 26th, 2020 when C19 hit. Now I do an honest days work to make half my old wage.

Congrats on the time off, go spend it doing all the stuff we wish we could do.

Sometimes I wish I could go back to manual labor. In this position I am responsible for other people's actions... 24/7.

Sometimes I wish I could go back to manual labor. In this position I am responsible for other people's actions... 24/7.

I understand but drawing down a 2000 ton screw chiller on the roof for 8 hours in 100F heat has me yearning for the desk. 😑

For years I had 5 weeks’ vacation and 3 personal days 6 days sick leave.
We could not use the sick days unless we were really sick, proof of doctors note that is!
I was hourly Management which had its perks too.

I could get requested days off consecutive with a weeks’ vacation so I could stretch 5 weeks into 8 weeks. I would request the weekend before and Monday-Tuesday after each weeks’ vacation to make a 7-day vacation into 11 days. Surprisingly, it seemed to take them forever/years to realize it and not allow it anymore. 
For the first 20 some years they would sometimes schedule me 12 days straight. that was two 40-hour weeks + two days OT. Then they started paying OT for all consecutive days over 5 which was great, but it did mean that after my 11-day vacation they would have to give me an additional Monday off or I was on OT starting the following week. Being retail I had split days off on a regular basis. After that rule was imposed, I got more consecutive day overtime pay than anyone else in my store until I told them I would not work any Sundays if it interfered with my Church times. Then there was about two years where I went to work at 10:30 Saturday night and got off at 7:00 AM Sunday and went to work at 12:00 AM Mondays. I do believe they meant that as punishment, but I liked it, LOL.

My hours/schedule was great as long as I didn’t try to sleep much . All I required from them was that I was off by 6:00 PM Wednesday and off from 8:30 AM until 10:00 PM on Sundays. I worked all shifts and filled in for all positions as they needed me to for people that called in sick or vacations too. 

I hated working the freezers though and got out of that most of the time.

As a matter of fact I can!  But I’m hoping they offer me an even better job that I interviewed for a week or so later.  It would mean essentially having my own park to manage.  Both jobs are sweet and my current job is a heck of a lot of fun so it was a real delema. 
BTW, I have decided to accept the offered job.  I can still accept the other position if they offer it later.  I’m trading a three minute commute for a 40 minute one but I’ll get to do a lot more interpretation and education.  And drive boats!
