Anyhoo. . . I know it is almost 6:00 p.m. but for once I’m off on Memorial Day weekend. I’m about to put some portables in my travel mug, grab a BB gun, fire up our ancient Snapper four wheeler and go cruise the new trails on my permission. Wishing ya’ll a safe, fun Memorial Day holiday!

Good morning GTA! Up at 0445. The weekend is here! And it’s not raining! I’m getting ready to go get a couple hairs cut and then get ready to mow and trim. I haven’t cut the grass in 2 weeks due to the new grass and all that rain. I usually cut it at 2.5”, I think I’ll try 3” for less clumps and buildup on the deck. Next week I’m planning on buying the high vacuum kit for my mower (Hustler FasTrak 54”). My Mrs. started another new job yesterday and has to work 0930-1300 or 1500. Should have no problem getting done before she gets home. Hoping to get some decent time to shoot airguns this afternoon. Memorial Day weekend is very special to me and I know it is to many other Patriots and Veterans who have lost friends and family. My mind goes back & forth between enjoying the time off and memories.

Slept in today, 5am. Once it starts getting light out the zoo awakens.

Chores this morning, then shoot in the basement. It’s actually sunny out. Been 46 and drizzle with 30mph winds out of the NE for two days.

I should be able to get outside and shoot some.

Good morning GTA! Up at 0500 CDST. I actually got everything done yesterday that I said I would. Except shoot airguns. It took me about 5 hours to mow and trim everything- 0900 to 1400 hrs. (3 1/2 acres)... 2 hours to mow & 3 hours on the weed whacker. I also pulled out & hung the bug zapper and ran the power cord and sprayed outside the house to defend against bugs. Took a shower and chilled out on the couch until my wife came home from her new job. So, today all we have is Ch**ch, no small group this afternoon. My wife is singing today, so I’ll drop her off early. We’re usually home by noon. This afternoon, I will be shooting airguns.

Good morning GTA! Up at 0600 CDST. Yep I slept in, I didn't get to bed till around midnight last night. I had a great time with my R7 .177 yesterday morning after helping with the house cleaning. My R7 is quite tolerant of the reshaped skirts that were salvaged from a previous MidwayUSA delivery.

To begin with I shot paper targets to determine holdover for 25, 30 and 35 yds. Then on to the spinners and of course the little critter shillottes.

Good morning GTA! Up at 0515 CDST. It’s Memorial Day today, remembering those brave souls lost for our freedom. Today I don’t have much planned other than shooting airguns. Yesterday, Ayrabella & I painted our little silhouette targets and spinners and left them outside to dry. I tried to get our bird seed & deer corn last night, but Tractor Supply was closed, we missed it by 5 minutes. They’re open today 0900-1800 hrs. I’ll head over there when they open so we can feed the birds & deer in between shooting. My wife’s a working lady now, so later this afternoon I’ll help her fold laundry and straighten up before the work week starts. This evening - 1800 I have a zoom meeting with several soldiers I served with and a fellow Warrior that’s in the hospital who’s not doing too good. We’ve lost a few this year and hoping we might be able to put a hold on that kind of thing for a bit. For those who pray, his name is John Houchins, he’s suffering from an acute illness I’m not sure of and has been unresponsive. But his wife said yesterday was the best day he’s had and awake since we found out, started praying and reached out. He’s only in his 40’s, perhaps he’ll pull out of this. Thanks in advance for those who pray.

Thanks to all of you who served. You are the reason the rest of us can go on with our piddly little lives worrying about silly things like mowing and pellets.

Liven the party life...up till 11 last night and had two drinks! Don’t feel the best this morning. Yes, more than a lightweight.

Grocery store and maybe some shooting this morning depending on neighbor activities. I shot quite a bit yesterday as no one was around.

I’ll put some ribs on the smoker and take it easy.

Busy weekend here. Saturday was my birthday, and one if my guy-friends took me to eat a chicken fried steak at the world-famous Mary's Cafe in Strawn, Texas. This place is out in the middle of nowhere, and at 1600, the placed was already packed, and when we left, there was a line at the door. 😄

Then, I went dancing yesterday afternoon. There is an old dancehall in Fort Worth that gives C&W dance lessons on Sunday afternoons, but after the lessons are over, they have live music and dancing until evening, and i have known a couple of guys in the band for a few years. They are really good....mostly old country music like I grew up on (and hated at the time- because my parents liked it! Lol)
