Good Morning GTA! Up at 0445 CST. As today is my last weekday of vacation, I’m taking my van in for an oil change & tire rotation, they open up at 0730. When I get back I’ll change the oil in the family car & the mower & sharpen both sets of blades. The grass is already starting to come up in most places. I bet I’ll make my first cut next Saturday.

Make plans, do research, come up with an itinerary for Grand Canyon trip. Watch theeee winningest volleyball program in America the last 20 years take on the #11 Ohio St. Buckeyes tonight @ 1800.

Got another fire today. Only about ten acres but the burn boss on this one is a wimp. He will take all day burn that little patch of scrub. Yesterday we burned 39 acres in about 4 hours and went home about two. Today we will spend eight hours at least burning just eight or nine acres.

Anyhoo... I’d rather burn that sit in an office.

That's a lot of pressure on just one guy! Why is it that only I can prevent forest fires? What about the rest of you? Can't you help? Why is it only me? I don't like Smokey anymore, perhaps he would taste better in a crock pot?

Good Morning GTA! Up at 0525 CST. I went to my youngest daughter's house this morning and installed her new dishwasher. Maybe I'll get to shoot some this afternoon. Hey John my grass is already starting to come up too, or spring weeds rather. I’ll make my first cut next week or the next.

We have been getting enough rain to make the weeds grow here too, so soon I'll be having to scalp the most the grounds with the lawn tractor a few times until we are in the dry hot season. I don't like mowing the weeds and don't like the brown aspect of summer, so I can complain either way though.

I’m washing the outsides of the windows on the house and some of the foundation that is exposed. One side of the house doesn’t see direct sunlight so it gets green every year and needs to be scrubbed clean.

Good Morning GTA! Up at 0415 CST. A little bit of patchy light rain this morning. Nothing like we expected or what they are getting north of us. They’re getting drenched and going to continue to do so. It actually might clear up after sunrise. Only thing I had planned today, is a friend from Ch**ch needs a new spit AC unit started up, and the Barn Meeting this evening. I may actually get to shoot a bit this morning before all that. I’d like to at least.

Good Morning GTA! Up at 0500 CST this morning. I'm finally getting use to the last time change and now it time to change it again. LoL $:-\$ It's foggy this morning at 60°. Might turn out to be a good day to shoot. Suppose to reach 78° today under cloudy skies. Wind will be SSE around 5 -7 mph after lunch.

Up, coffee, read, surf.

Chauffeur for the kids. One is flying, one rides horses, a couple are going out to do yard work for a gentleman that hires them every season to take care of his yard and some rental property. I will clean a bathroom, possibly drop some weed-n-feed on the lawn (after the frost is gone) and whatever else I can squeeze in before heading into work for my last shift of the week. Whew! 😅

In the late 70's there was a rash of "mailbox baseball" events around our town, our neighbors mailbox got it one night, not a good idea since George was a mason by trade. He made a regulation sized and shaped reinforced concrete mailbox, painted it with cold galvanizing and put it back up.

His oldest son reported back that the kid a block up and over had a broken hand a wrist the day after they tried to take out the new mailbox.

George put up a standard silver box that night so when the cops showed up in response to the complaint filed by the kids dad (spoiled brats), George just showed the cops the old crushed box.

The Postmaster showed up at the kids house the next day...

Back then, it was a 'Federal Offense'. Now it is probably not worthy of being prosecuted in Juvenile Court.

The postmaster offered them a trade instead of pressing charges. The post office never looked as good as it that summer.

smashing rural mailboxes here is a Halloween prank. I have lost so many though the decades I lost count.
I used to buy nice ones.. anymore it is the cheapest white tin one I can find.
