I have battled rats in the crawl space (under) and mice in the airspace (overhead).  I thought that I had things sealed up well since it’s been a season or two with no signs.  Heard the first sign yesterday morning and set traps at midnight last night after work.  I heard the little bugger early this morning then a minute or two later I heard that distinct sound of the trap going off 💥, a few seconds struggle then silence.  Ah silence.....   😌

It’s right above where my head is when I sleep so it sounds like Sasquatch dancing 🕺 above my head especially at night when it’s quiet.

Now I need to patrol the foundation and get back under the house to find the breach where it got in.  At least the rats have been gone for a handful of years now and the mice for a couple years up until now.  I despise rodents!  It’s just something that we have to deal with though.  YUCK!

The previous owner of this house could have been nicknamed 'King Mouse".  The first night, I set one trap and caught one.  I set two traps the next night and caught two.  And the night after that I caught two after dark, before bedtime. Then two more by dawn the next morning.  After than it slowed a bit.  Eventually, I caught a total of 11 mice.  One even made a nest in the ductwork of my Tacoma.  If I am able to count the four young one in the nest, then the total jumps to 15 mice.  I have not seen one since then.
This morning it was the usual birds at the backyard feeder and a couple of Bluebirds starting a nest in one of the nesting boxes.

I keep about 3 or 4 mouse traps set year round around my house. When the snow starts to melt you'll see their tunnels. I've been here 32 years and have never had one in the house. But you would not believe over the years what I have caught in those mouse traps. Put it this way, not just mice!

As far as I know there has only ever been one mouse inside the house.  The cat caught that one and we (wife) found it dead in the morning.  Everything else has been under the house, in the wall or in the air space above.  Only had rats under the house.  I had pros come in and seal under the house and around it.  That was a joke.  I ended up going back and doing myself. 

So for tomorrow my plans are to look for mouse entry points and we have an arborist coming to look at possibly taking two trees down and trimming one.  Plus shuttle kids various places throughout the day to their commitments.

Another time I heard one in my room so I got my cat in there then shut the door. Shortly he caught the mouse but turned it loose being bored with it staying still so I stomped it then cleaned the blood off the floor. Good luck in finding the entrance and sealing it off Brett.

They don’t need much of a gap to get into so it will be tough I think.  I have two more fresh traps set in case there is more than one.  Hoping it was just the one and now it’s over for at least a couple more years I’d not forever.

Good Morning GTA! Up at 0325 CST. Turns out everyone wants a piece of my vacation. All I wanted to do was shoot airguns... I guess I need to make an agenda before it gets too hectic. Today I need to take the dogs in to get their nails done after I get the girls off to school. I am planning on shooting some after that, because I’m taking my wife into town for lunch at Panda Express. That’s what she wanted for her Birthday, but wanted to wait since the girls won’t eat it. This afternoon I have to look at my neighbor’s HVAC system he wants moved from under his house (water damage, and sinking floors) to his attic. He’s going to take care of all the ductwork, I just need to disconnect & re-connect & startup. He’s going to help me take down some trees, he’s a landscaper. Neither one of us will have much time as Spring comes around.

Up at 5,  it's my work Friday today and have tomorrow off with my wife, no agenda, just some one on one time with my honey!

Walked the property yesterday, had the DAR .22 with me, very windy, holdover was 10 + mil dots, hit the gong twice with a guesstimate for windage, was tickled pink!

Good Morning GTA!  I woke up at 0545 CST. Yesterday was a beautiful day and it looks like today is supposed to be about the same, it's 30° now with a high of 74° under sunny skies with SSE winds at 7 mph.

Yesterday I worked on my R7, the rear trigger adjustment screw would back out while shooting it. Thanks to Bayman for his instructions and pictures it turned out to be was an easy fix.

We're taking the tax stuff to the accountant today. My wife had made two kingsize satin pillowcases for one of her friend's birthday and we're going to drop that off as well. This afternoon I plan to shoot a little,  the R9 is breaking in rather nicely.  I plan to move some spinners out to 40 yards and try it with those distances. 

I've been wanting to shoot my Diana RWS-460 so I may shoot it as well.

Dan, you and me both! Target was 110y away according to the AO.  I am zeroed for 65y so I held 4 dots high and 10 (all I have on the reticle) dots right. Hit steel on the first and third shots, missed the second and fourth.

I find it amazing that holdovers are so huge with AG's, my 7mm-08 would move perhaps half a diameter at 120y. Perhaps 1 mil at 300y but it's extremely flat.

Sorry about this. I've had this happen many times. I think you're like me. When people ask thinks of us we always put their wants and needs before our own desires but sometimes we need just need to vent.

I know it, Dan. It’s hard for me to say no. I have learned to try to keep within certain boundaries, especially HVAC related. I hate to say yes if I can’t help, because I’m too busy with my regular job. I hate to say no if I can help, or save a friend some money. Saturday I have to connect, leak check, evacuate & startup a new unit for a buddy from Ch**ch, before we go to our monthly Barn Meeting. Wednesday my other buddy from Ch**ch, who was interested in airguns is coming over, finally, to shoot. It’s all spread out, and shouldn’t be a big deal. But it’s all this week, which I wasn’t planning on. Looks like Friday - Sunday we’ll get some rain. My wife wants to work on the office, it’s a mess. There’s other things I wanted to work on too, at my own leisure, but if it all feels too busy, I’ll push those things off as weekend chores. I just don’t want this to spin out where I should’ve saved my vacation time for some other time.

UP @ 0600.  Taking one son to work here in a few minutes. 

Come home, read, eat.  It’s clear skies and 27 degrees out.  I’ll start making lattes/mochas when I get back while breakfast is cooking unless Mrs. P wants me to brown the taters on the cast iron.  If she does (I’ll volunteer) then I’ll be doing that. 

I’ll be an offspring shuttle driver throughout the day/evening for a couple of the older kids.  One will have to be at the airport (flying) at 2pm, another volunteers at hippo therapy sometime today (I’ll ask the scheduler=wife) and then another will have to be picked up tonight @ 7:30 pm after build night (light sport aircraft).  The arborist is scheduled to show for a planning/estimate between 4-5pm.

In between all that I still need to straighten the shop up, wash my truck, find a part for a light at the hardware store and one other “improvement” to feel like I’m getting something accomplished instead of just maintaining. 

I hope to be able to shoot today.  I may swap the scope from the .22 30 over to the .177 30.
