 I know they don't bite but, they go for my ears, eyes, and face and drive me crazy.

That's what brake cleaner and a lighter is for. Spray those suckers straight to he|| then carry on.


I keep a bug zapper light running in my garage with it's door shut and the shop fan going. I also have the attic ladder holding itself open a couple feet declined from the roof with the ladder unfolded against the attic frame to stay in place and another fan on the floor blowing the hot air out of the garage to vent through the attic. No bugs in my face that way and I'm in the cool shade.

I also took somewhat of a mental health day. I did go out this morning and remove several fallen and rotted branches from the area as I walked around and made a mental plan which included dividing the remaining work into manageable sections. I'm going to number the trees in each section in the order I want to take them down and the directions I want them to fall. I have to do it like this because I need certain trees to guide other trees away from the buildings as they fall. I also need certain trees to anchor ropes to so they fall in the right direction. The notch and knee won't work in some cases because the trees are weighted and leaning the wrong way.
Besides, the heat index was like 105 today. And the kamikaze mosquitoes are ruthless. My body is beginning to look like one of those people on Naked and Alone.

It's been triple digits here for a month and no rain since June.  If it could come this way, we'll find some way to deal with it; otherwise, we wish my SIL near Tampa the best.

Same here Greg, finally got some rain but it's still powder dry deep down. I just hope that it does not turn into another Cat 5 storm. It will level the rest of this area for sure. Just have to keep a watch on it to see which way it goes in the next few days.

Read that tropical storm 10(?) is suppose to drop 3-6 inches on the pan handle.

It's 110 in Hemet but just feels like 108 with 20% humidity


Tomorrow is supposed to be a one degree cooler with 12% humidity. 


We also cool into the 70's overnight.

Hot here today also. Inside temp was 4 degrees above what was set so I watered down the unit to help out. Rain finally inbound for just a few hours. Hopefully not a monsoon but rain is much needed.

Finished with the animal supplies, manage to get some things for me but wally world in Marianna turned into a free for all. The clueless were just wondering around and plugging up the isles. I bailed and went home before I started bulldozing people out of the way, the rudeness is just unreal. In the morning before daylight I will finish shopping and load up on fuel, after that I am not going anywhere unless I absolutely have to. This area turns into something like something from "Mad Max" or the "Poseidon Adventure" when a storm is predicted to hit this area. People just plain go nuts.

At 8:17 PM it has already cooled down about 20-24° around the valley it is now 86-92°F.


It is supposed to be 72°F at 6:00 tomorrow morning.


 I have Jury Duty but don't go in tomorrow but have to call in again tomorrow night to find out about Tuesday.

Thanks for the laugh Robert. Some people do think it's the end of the world  when these things come up. The ones that went through Michael are doing fine and getting things done, it's the yo yos that have moved in that are freaking out. Oh well, just another day in paradise.

At some point today I'll likely be under the CR-V doing a visual inspection.  It saw some heavy off-road use out on the property over the summer and took a few bumps, but still running like a top.

Thanks Peter. Round up my fuel cans and fuel up everything, move stuff around to safer locations to avoid falling trees, tie everything down or put in a safe place. Wait and Watch mode now.

Good morning GTA! Happy Monday! I slept in until 0600. It’s only 62* outside and only supposed to get to 84* today. That’s a significant change as far as I can feel it. We might see mid 90*s after Labor Day, but only for a few days now, predicted. I’m fine with summer moving on. I only have a 4 day work week, I’m taking 5 days off including next weekend. I have work scheduled Tuesday & Wednesday, but I’ll have to call in this morning to see what’s scheduled for today.

Mornin y'all.  Storm prep concluded.  Got an appointment to have lunch with a couple of acquaintances.  Never done anything like that before.  Strange to think that I've reached this age without ever having a social life.  I was always too busy and money was too tight to spend on frivolous stuff like that. 

Then we'll watch the weather and plan the bug-out. True Crackers don't mind a good Hurricane.  It's our version of urban renewal.
