Anybody had a good experience with a battery powered smoke alarm that doesn't give false alarm?

Robert, my supply houses carry the Kidde brand detection alarms. In my house, they’re dual powered, hardwired with battery back up. I’m not sure of the make & model. I don’t get false alarms, but they are getting old. I should probably start thinking about replacing mine. We have been collecting fallen branches and trimmings for the past couple weeks and loading them on my 16' atv trailer. This morning we decided it was time to take them to the hard road and unload them in an area where the city picks up bulk yard debris. We could have burned them but I didn't want to babysit a large bonfire in this heat and humidity and I wanted to get my trailer with the new flooring boards back under the cover of the barn.
 I have a half rotted tree about 18" diameter and about 30' tall that I need to control drop because if it goes the wrong way it could do damage to the ramp at the back of the house. I could probably push it down but there is too much potential for things to go bad. I know it's hollow up the center.
I can cut that into campfire wood once its on the ground.

Kris thanks for explaining. If the flies are still alive on the trap and biting you when handling it then spray them with brake cleaner. That will kill em quick without making the tape not stick with just a fast squirt.


Bill I had a tree like that recently right by my fence. I tied a ratchet strap to it and the tractor then pulled it down with enough strap to avoid it falling on me and the tractor.

Yeah, I got a roll of 3/8 braided steel cable. I thought about pulling it down with the truck. I could toss a weighted length of clothesline rope around the top to pull the cable up with. Then I could put a loop in the cable and cinch it.
I know it would come down easy because I can rock it and hear the cracking down low.

Good morning GTA! Happy Saturday! I’m home, it’s raining and I got up at 0330. I really, really need to mow, but I don’t believe that’s going to happen today. I guess I’ll just see what the weather looks like as the day progresses to see what I’ll do today. We have our monthly Barn Meeting tonight. Maybe I’ll just shoot some today.

Happy Saturday is right!
 Been a work week from Hades but I push though, even mowed every night afterwards because it is supposed to rain all weekend here.
So now I have my chores all done.
 Going to...
  cast some slugs, pot is all set.
 "un-Pickle" the camper for the season
 Laundry
 "tinker" with one or two of my latest 112-116 project pistols.
I think a nap is in order at some point

Oh and tonight "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" is on GRIT... that's the high point!!!

Mornin'
I heard some rustling around this morning and looked up at the clock. It was 5am and I could see light coming from the front room. Rambo and Boss must have woke Betty Lou up. She got them fed and turned on the coffee. I got up and let her go back to bed.
I slipped out and fire up the Casting Corner then came back in to watch the recorded Truck from last night.
DON'T SPOIL IT PLEASE.
Little of this and a little of that is the plan today.
Betty Lou says we need to make a dog food run.
I plan to sort some wheel weight lead for melting down. And get my outdoor ingot making area set up.
I'm going to do it on the bar/mancave deck to keep the fumes out of the Red Shed.

Big eating day for me today.    French toast and bacon for breakfast.   Gotta digest quickly so I'll have an empty stomach by 1300.   Big celebration with one of the boys and his fiance this afternoon.

That's nice to have as you can pull a lot of weight with that. I didn't need to strap near the top as it was rotted enough to pull down with it strapped just around 7ft high up. Sounds similar to your tree. Try it low first like that I bet it will pull the tree down.

Good morning GTA! Happy Sunday! Up at 0330 and I’m having my coffee. Well, the rain quit yesterday morning and I got my mowing done. Today, we have Sunday school at 0900, Ch**ch at 1000. Small group is at 1600. Today is Mother’s Day,

Good Morning, I was real tired after Kayaking and went to bed about 8:00 PM I WOKE UP A LITTLE AFTER 12:00 AM and tried to sleep until 4:00 AM, according to my Smart Watch I got an additional 22 minutes sleep which seems right to me. Going to bed early didn't work out too well. I got up at 3:53 AM and shut off my alarm in advance so it would not bother anyone else. I got dressed, had coffee and read my Bible.

Now I am feeling sleepy again but need to stay up. 
We will leave for Ch**ch at about 9:30 AM

Happy Mother's day to all. Just finished picking veggies and fruit. Some of the fruit will added to my pancakes this morning. Then it's load the chicken feeders and feed the rest of the zoo. Work on the tractor, then hook up the bush hog and get the fire lines and shooting lanes mowed weather permitting. Just take the day as it comes.

Happy Mammy's Day! 

Made cappuccino, kids are on task making breakfast (French toast and eggs).  We will have Sunday school then worship service.  After we will come home and kids will start round two by making lunch (fettuccine Alfredo).  My MIL will be over later today to enjoy the festivities and food.  It's a beautiful day out.  Supposed to be 88 degrees today. 👌🏼😎

I also hope to shoot some airguns 😉🤠

Drove 45 minutes to meet my 80 year young Mom at 830... Coffee and doughnuts before she and I went to her church.
 Then I thought we were going to the early service at 9:00 but no... Mom has a hen house of ladies her age that she bonds with every Sunday morning. She paraded me around introducing me like I was a "trophy" for an hour and a half. More coffee and donuts.
Then service started.
I tell you what.... It was so AWESOME to be in a church like I remembered they should be.
 Hoosier Momma likes the more modern style with songs I don't know projected on a screen and a self ordained preacher who speaks from his heart to the congregation.. but I always feel out of place.
 Today I sang hymns I remembered long ago  from a true hymnal.. and listened to the minister reciting Acts 17:22-28.
Now THAT is church! Literally brought tears to my eyes...miss that so much!
  Need to find that here at home.
Thank you Mom for once again taking care of me.

I’m glad you enjoyed your Mom’s Mother’s Day, Scott. Keep searching, it’s getting harder to find. But, there might be a remnant.
