Hello Folks this is my first post here so what kit brand do you suggest for the Diana 34 rifle which is used for pest control, the Vortek or Maccari.
If Vortek which kit the PG2 or the 12FPE ? I am just getting into working on air guns have a lot of exp with Muzzle loaders, RF and CF rifles but none at all with air rifles.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Also what is meant by sizing the power piston seal are there different sizes for the same model and if so do i have to measure the cup before ordering new?

I get all my parts from Air Rifle Headquarts (Maccari). If used for pesting accuracy is far more important than power. All the power in the world won't help if you can't hit the target. Generally speaking the more power a spring piston rifle produces the more difficult to shoot accurately. The first question to ask yourself is WHY do you want to replace the spring, seal, or whatever. The original setup is generally quite good in a Diana 34. A new shooter is the more common cause of inaccuracy. All the tuning in the world won't compensate for lack of practice or experience. When we go beyond that you really should have a spring compressor for disassembling a spring piston airgun. There are exceptions but the Diana 34 is NOT one of them, at least not for a beginner. I don't size a seal by taking a specific measurement. I go by the fit in the compression tube of the particular gun I'm working on. The final size is a function of the individual gun and personal preference. As delivered with the gun the seal size is generally really close.

Well i have taken this gun apart and the power spring is broken into 4 pieces and the piston seal is nicked and the fiber sleeve at the rear of the spring to cracked so i really think i need a tune kit or spring& seal kit.
Thanks for your input on the Maccari items.

If the spring is in pieces you are definitely a candidate for a new spring at least. The fiber or nylon or whatever tube at the rear of the spring is the spring guide. It does not come with a new spring. It does come with the tune kit. It's a REALLY tight fit which reduces twang and makes for smoother cocking. Whether a seal is necessary is a function of how badly yours is damaged. I'd order one anyhow if only to have a spare on hand. You can purchase just the spring but you would then need to have someone fabricate a guide for you. Buying the whole package is less hassle than finding someone to make a guide. Good luck on your tune.

Every D34 that I bought broke the spring in 4 pieces. I would not say they are generally good.
There were defiantly issues with the OEM springs.
I hope that has been corrected.

I have a tinbum Kit in my Diana 350 and it eliminated some of the torque and twang of the oem spring and guide but nowhere near as nice as the shot cycle of my D48 with vortek pg2. Have not used a Maccari Kit but by all accounts they are excellent. Vmach is another option but more expensive:

I am a big fan of the vortek pg3 kit and vac seal. I put them in all of my guns and have loved them.

I haven't tried a Vortec spring but I have Maccari springs in two of my 124's. One spring is 20 years old and still has velocity within 30 fps of new. I have read Maccari springs hold up for a long time.
