What's the history on the Leapers scope? Was it riding other guns that might have started its trip west? FWIW, I'm not impressed with the latest RWS scopes. The reports from the field suggest they should be limited to milder recoiling guns. These are the kind of plain-Jane models, not the older scopes. As I mentioned in another thread, I wouldn't even put a Korean RWS variable on anything the has a lot of kick.
How does your 34P feel compared to your other 34? Or the one before it you exchanged? By this I mean how does the shot cycle feel? If it's got a bad seal, etc, you should be able to denote the difference. As to a loose spot in the compression chamber, these parachute seals should compensate for it. The piston ought to hit the rough spot, expand a bit more, then squeeze back down. If the spot's really large, wouldn't it bleed some pressure off to the rear? I would say that, if the gun is shooting about the right fps, there shouldn't be a tube problem.
And, you know, Tom, it doesn't help the scope one bit when you get PO'd at that 12 groove 34P and slam it against the bench every ten shots or so.

i have a 34 i got a few months ago and it blew the inside rings apart by shot 50.So far the cp on it is holding up well so id have to agree the latest rws scopes maybe belong on a softer shooting gun.Umarex did warranty it though ts just not on that gun anymore

Red
Scope history Leapers was fresh warranty replacement out of the box never used on anything dead in less that 50 shots. The RWS was the original one that came with the first Pro. Rifle is shooting right at 875 with HN FTT the first one was shooting them with the longer barrel right at the same 870-880 mark. My Classic T06 is now wearing a Vortek kit....the Pro Compact shot cycle is not as good but to me does not feel extremely twangy this one is better than the first pro as far as kick to me...
I have a Vortek seal here waiting on some moly and time to get another Leapers scope swap out.....Leapers already said bring it on in for another one....its great that they are local...
I think I need to go inside and get a look at the rail attachment and the tube and seal before feeding it any more scopes....build a front sight mount and shoot it with peeps???
I promise I have not been slamming it on the bench at all...maybe that is what it needs to be shown who is the boss?

Ever considered trying a scope that has a rubberized coating on the outside of it ? That would deff help to stop some of the vibration being transmitted to the scope from the action

That'll only only set you back about another $80, if you can find a Dampa mount. I think you and that gun were just not meant for each other.

Get a Hawke sport hd scope they come in 4x, 3x9 and 4x12 and youll never replace another sope on that rws, but there must be something wrong with it or its been souped up alot. rws 34's arent known scope killers. brent

I have two model 34's a .22 panther and a .177 (20 years old) and yet to break a scope. I am presently using the center point scopes and they work very well for me. I have just put a new 4x16x40 on a rws 350 magnum, it is the new version, and I like this scope alot. I have just replaced the spring on both 34's (they broke) I put a factory spring from umarex on the .177 and a jm spring on the .22 panther. I would get the center point from wally mart keep all the packaging and receipts so you can return it if it breaks. Good luck.
