New member and new phantom.

Hey everyone,

I'm new here and got to say, this is a pretty cool forum, hours of good reading material that's for sure.  I have been lurking for awhile but have just now been able to afford a new gun.  We needed to hit the local wally mart so I picked up a new phantom.  I chose this gun cause everybody has pretty good things to say it seems, and also cause I'm poor....lol.  Anyway first impressions were it's really not bad for 80 bucks.  First shot kinda surprised me, popped as loud as a .22 also it had more recoil that I expected it to (first spring air rifle). I have read that it takes quite a few pellets to break in, so I'm not expecting much in the way of accuracy but its honestly shooting pretty good with the irons.  I have an apple tree a solid 20 yards from the front porch, after dinner the kids and I blasted the apples that had fallen off the tree.  I was on a streak, I was hitting a baseball size apple until it blew apart, way to much fun.  I am pretty happy with this gun for the money.  Now I'm gonna save my pennies for a mount and scope, not sure what to go with but I'm sure I'll figure it out soon......I also wanted to add, for a 10 shot string over the chrony I had an average velocity of 881....es13.....sd5...that was with crosman destroyer ex from wally world....pretty good if you ask me...

Don't forget about the GRT111 Trigger, you think it is fun now, wait till you slap that puppy in. The best 32 bucks you could spend.

Welcome -- Lots to absorb on airguns here. Get on the Airguns Daily list  from airgundepot.com and you will see a lot of good buys. They have had several refurbished phantom combo's recently at decent prices.
