There is now a question before the NZ Police asking if a converted pcp to CO@ is legal. I don't think there will be a reply. They would wait and then prosecute and let the court decide.QB78s and Crosman/ Benjamin Discoveries are not available here. The small ratcatcher Crosmans are but they are in .22.Next recourse after chasing up the Police will be a call to the Flying Dragon. We can import CO2 rifles into NZ without restriction but CO@ pistols are a big NO. Used second hand pistols here are being sold at asking prices in the thousands ($). New ones are from import by the Police. Clever people are making their own for HPA and they are seriously powerful.
.177 Co2 rifles at an affordable price are not available here but a BAM 50 PCP is.Questions;1. Is a Bam50 a reasonable quality rifle?2. Would it be feasible to convert an air pcp to a CO@ fill.3. Would there be difficulty with the plenum size, assuming it has one, in getting a sufficient CO2 charge to make the shot work. You may well ask why not just go PCP. Answer. Our rules for air powered PCP ownership in NZ are ridiculous hence the interest in CO2.
