crosman venom? vs crosman 800x both in 22

i am interested in a venom. i killed many rats here with the springer. it just simply works/.with that said is the venoms power plant the same as higher priced guns. i.e trail xl etc.

i meant to introduce myself as well. im joe and reside in the territory of puerto rico.

arent they they same guns with different power plants?

First, Welcome to the GTA! Lots of good people here.

I think the Venom has the same power plant as the Titan GP .22 with fps claimed to be 925. Actual fps is probably around 700-725. The 800 has about the same power with a traditional spring. I own an 800 and a Titan. The Titan has a little more power, not much. The Trail xl has more power than the 800 or Venom. Maybe someone who owns a Trail XL can give you specifics on the powerplant.  I would think the 800 or Venom would have plenty of power to kill rats.

My girlfriend has the Nitro Venom Dusk in .22 cal.   Using Crosman Premiers, shoots about 725-750fps. Definitely NOT the same powerplant as my XL 1100 in .22 cal., which shoots the same pellets at 850-875fps. Hers is smooth with almost no recoil....mine will put a bruise on your shoulder after a few shots.

The Trail XL is a magnum springer, while the Venom is a mid power springer. The Venom is probably more forgiving shooting wise, but if you can master it, the XL is a beast.

I have an 800x i home tuned and lubed and also has a trigger. with about 750 shots through it it will push crosman 14.3 hollow points at 711 fps all day long. it is actually really consistent. It generally deviates less than 8 fps up or down. mine is here to defend the chicken coop. it has taken opossums with head and neck shots... i dont think a rat should be an issue. scoped with a 4x32 shorty rws it is perfect within 25 yards.
